| A Tale of Two Churches (Part 2) Please PRAY!! |
|
| |
The second church that I attend is called Mosaic. This church meets at 4pm Sunday night and Thursday evenings for prayer meeting. Mosaic is a small church that has begun by meeting in a park meeting area then moved to a school cafeteria. It may have 30+ change members in it attending regularly. Recently they have just bought their own church, and a couple houses around it. One of the houses is an old crack house, and the house caddy corner to the church will become the children's church in time. We have a lot of work to do on it, the roof leaks and has plastic on it, and the windows are painted blue on the inside/white outside. Sometimes during praise and worship, we are so loud that the paint falls off the ceiling. The old bell at the steeple of the church was broken, but now it is fixed and we ring it at the beginning/ending of service and when someone gets delivered. Now the neighborhood this church is on is in the MOST run down area of Moore County, NC, but a mile down the road are some of the richest people in the state. In my previous blog I spoke about Moore County, NC. There are two more churches in this neighborhood, but for the most part the neighborhood is a poverty stricken hood. If you remember around servolution we had a neighborhood clean up there. You may wonder why this church decide to start up in the hood, well it all started with a dream that one of the assistant pastors had in which he told Pastor Steve they must go to Jackson Hamlet the worst neighborhood in Moore county. Like the days of Joseph (Gen 45:10, Gen 46:28), we were sent to the land of Goshen, Jackson Hamlet, to start up this church. This community is in bondage by poverty, racism, drugs, alcohol, prostitution, witchcraft, abuse, and all the bad there is could be found in Jackson Hamlet. God said His people would be despised by Egypt (Gen 46:34). Well so is Mosaic church. we have been attacked by paintball guns. Jackson Hamlet is predominately an entirely black neighborhood, we are 93% white, 5% black and 2% hispanic. Pastor Steve has even been approached and asked, "What are you trying to do, be an oreo". Well as the Pastor in the black church who is our partner said, "What is the sweetest part of the oreo, the white stuff. Just like Jesus, you are trying to be the sweet white light stuff in the oreo." A little history about Jackson Hamlet, it was established in 1924. The land was owned by a successful toolman who built all the golf courses in Pinehurst. People who settled in Jackson Hamlet were hired hens for this toolman. In 1932 the church was built, Pinehurst began to prosper while Jackson Hamlet began to slip into poverty. Just like when Pharaoh prospered and the servants starved (Gen 47:4, Gen 47:22). WE BELIEVE God will bring this neighborhood out of poverty. If we want the impoverished to prosper we must establish our church home and sow our seeds there. 47:23 Then Joseph said to the people, "Behold, I have this day bought you and your land for Pharaoh. Now here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. Mosaic must gain property in the community and establish Spiritual authority. So we did this very thing, we close at the end of this month, but we must be renting it now I don't know. The land the church is on is supposed to be sacred, in the basement you will find walkers and canes. So at one time miracles and wonders were performed there. We are tearing down the crack house next door to make our parking lot, as a sign of restoration. Our plan is to restore the church and the neighborhood. We want to show the community just how BIG our God is.
6:6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment, We believe even in time of a great recession that it is possible to sacrifice and restore this neighborhood. Just as Goshen was spared from hail and famine (Ex. 9:6, Ex 9:26). We believe that our pursuit of God will restore even when all is going to the pits, God will prevail (Ex 10:23). 11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever shall be again. We have a strategy to proclaim Jesus over the Community, and we have our two partner churches that are working with us. We are being provided with every address in the neighborhood, each household is being asked to pray and or bless for 2 or 3 of them. Even though gunshots are being shot, drug dealers are still making the deal, some are coming to the church and being saved. Mosaic's Three Fold Strategy 1) Praise the Lord with our Entire Heart 2) Pray for the Community 3) Establish Authority over the Land God says He is with us.
On June 20th, we will stand at the gates of Goshen in Jackson Hamlet and establish God's authority. This will be done at the gates of Cotton Street at 11am. So PLEASE PRAY for Jackson Hamlet up through that time, and for God to take back His people. Please pray God will find favor upon our church.
(disclaimer: this is mainly Pastor Steve's sermon not my writing, which is only the first few paragraphs. If you are on facebook, they are there. Charity and Pastor Steve are my friends. Charity is out here too but she hasn't really got started on MC yet due to her work and raising 4 kids.) This is our church, Mosiac Future Childrens Church Main Partner Church
 Neighbor in the hood. |

| Hi Becky. Have you ever seen the film "Field of Dreams" with Kevin Cosner in it? Its very much on similar lines to this. In short, he (Kevin Cosner) built something - and they came from all around. In the same way, something is being built and planned here by Pastor Steve who has a passion for reaching broken people. So once its done, just watch 'em come. I wish him all the luck in the world, :o) |

Yes Pastor Steve will be truly blessed by this.

Terry Yes He is worthy to be praised. THanks for the prayers
Barb - Yes Thank you for the prayers. We have also started a fast jar. Whoever fasts can bring in the money they would have spent on fasting for JH and put it in the jar. We are believing that God will lead us to that one. That one single mom who needs a little help, or grandma raising babies, or that one widow or widower. We plan on spending that money to pay for their light bill or rent or whatever they need. So God lead us to that "ONE". |

| Hi Becky. Just an additional thought to add to all the other thoughts. Out of one seed comes many other seeds. It kinda ties in to having a vision that's bigger than what we are. So do we dare to have a dream that's bigger than us? |

| Yes Becky, the pastor is "making all this happen" (or really, God is, through him, thanks to the pastor's obedience - as you pointed out). But you too appear to be availing yourself in obedience, by doing your part, no matter how small. And though it may seem like a small part to you (that is, attending, "reporting", praying, gathering prayer support), others see and are blessed by it in a BIG way... |
