The process of making bread must be specific according to the recipe. Pour flour into large bowl, add the other ingredients, stir, add the yeast and stir until well blended, (lumpy is o.k.) start kneading the dough. The bread dough will come to a stiff, yet elastic consistency, this means that you have enough flour in the dough and it is ready. You must cover it and let it sit for while. You must
wait.
The process of making a clay pot is almost similar. In the developing of the clay, it needs to be combined a variety of ingredients add the apple cider vinegar (as bacteria). Set aside and
wait.
The bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis), better known as tortoise shell bamboo, the farmer plant the seed, water, tender and care for it persistently.
He waits. The first year nothing happened. The second nothing happened and neither in the third or even in the four year. The farmer care and protect something that he does not see any progress. Year after year the farmer does the same, hoping and waiting in expectation.
It seems that nothing is happening with the dough, the clay and the bamboo. Nothing, nada, sitting and waiting. Imagine them throwing a pity party. The dough saying “I am only a lump, I am not good, no body wants me, they forgot about me”. The clay maybe saying “I am useless, I am different, I do not look like the other pots so no one wants me…” The farmer, “it is a waste.” “Why should I be wasting four years of nothing”? Why can’t I have results now and then? Why the waiting? I believe in Christian’s lives this is the moment on where we lose hope, faith and sight of God’s plan for us. When we do not see the immediate results we start to wonder. Where is God? Why I am sitting here. Why he is not working in me? He abandoned me…
Because nothing is happening in the outside of us we feel that the waiting is useless. The process of waiting is very important because it is in the waiting that some components get activated making the dough to rise. The clay waiting period it to get it cured. And the bamboo? After almost 5 years of dedication, watering, nurturing, hoping and expecting the bamboo will start to grow at a rhythm of 2” per hour 4 feet per day. To grow 90 feet within a month….
It is the continuous process where the mixing, panning, waiting, rising, and baking of dough that produced the desire bread.
The clay is cut and using a series of coordinated hand movements, patted, shaped, trimmed, sanded, glazed it is to become the desired object. Each piece is probably handled 30 times from the moment it starts as a lump of clay until the pot is sold and wrapped in a bag for you to take home.
In the time where you feel that nothing is happening on your life, when you feel that God has forgot about you, it is in this time that the ingredients are working together, are activated to create the perfect mixture.
God wants to prepare you, to mold you into His perfect image but you must be ready for the changes.
After the waiting time, after the moments of maturity are you ready for The Potter’s touch?
How can I stay focus while waiting?
Knowing the heart of God. Psalm 139:17 How precious are your thought, oh God! How vast is the sum of them! 18. were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
God is a forever God. He thinks about us. His thoughts are genuine.
Matthew 6: 8, 32 do not be like them, for your father knows what you need before you ask him. 32. For pagan runs after these things, and your heavenly father knows you need them. 33. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and these things will be given to you.
God is a God that knows what we need. He knows our hearts and still is willing to give, help and teach us while waiting patiently for us to be ready. He knows when we are ready because He sees what we do not see.
Romans 8: 28 in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
God is in control. In all things, in his time, He will turn everything for good.
Psalm 56:8 you taken account of my wondering; puts my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
He has taken an account. He knows everything about us.
Revelations 8:3 another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the olden altar which was before the throne.
He takes time for us. God collect the prayers of the saints.
Hebrews 11:6 without faith it is impossible to please God. Because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and the he reward those who earnestly seek him.
Faith motivates and activates God’s heart. The difference between faith and believe is that anyone can believe but faith connect you with sincerity, connect you with the heart of God. It shows love.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you “declares the Lord, plan to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future 12. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
The Lord knows our future. He has a plan for you and me. He hears when we call and knows everything about us. He wants to give us favor. He is looking for commitment. He is looking for an imperfect heart like yours and mine inclined toward him.
A willing heart.
Are you willing....
