| Sweet Georgia on my Mind (Part 2 – The Interview) |
|
| |
Ok so I think I left you where I was about ready to cross the state line of Georgia. As my mind pondered on the project our church is undertaking, God spoke to me again, “Girl we talked about tithing, how about a little offering as you show me some gratitude for this opportunity for a job, and talk to other suffering souls about Jesus, and Jackson Hamlett neighborhood in your county .” So, I decided to listen and make sure that I had $5 in my wallet on me at all times. My first “victim” was a pregnant crack head at the Georgia line filling station. She was the only one I didn’t approach first. Yes you can tell they are on crack because they have dead yellow foggy eyes, you can see it actually better than any other substance. Well she was talking to the guy next to me at the pump. My card didn’t work so I went in and paid. When I came out she approached me. She told me about her two living children, different worthless daddy's and that she was pregnant needing gas to put in her vehicle because she was stranded. I told her she could have some of my gas, she told me it was up the road. I blessed her children, and we talked a bit. I told her that I too was having troubles but God has blessed me enough to be able to bless others. As I watched her walk away with that first $5 I watched her go back to the cheap motel next door, not towards the highway exit. The guy at the pump next to me and I began to talk about how it takes the Love of Jesus, not condemnation to win the lost. There were many people that I was able to talk to who were broken or struggling souls, just by telling them that “God told me to give this to you.” Many folks enslaved by addictions, poverty, or other afflictions. One other soul that stuck out to me was a young boy at the Waffle House who served me my food. I asked him to pray for that neighborhood, and I told him that I could tell he had a praying Grandma or momma. He said yea, my grandma, and I am scared to tell her about my tattoos. LOL! First I told him about how it is a controversial subject among Christians because of Leviticus and Revelations. But I told him that Jesus also said it isn’t what you eat, drink or put in your body that defiles you it is what comes out of your mouth. He proceeded to tell me that’s how he was going to tell his grandma except when he repeated it back to me he said “…what you eat, drink or PUT ON YOUR BODY". Oh my! Well his tattoos were rather cool. One was a moon with the two footprints then the one, to represent footprints in the sand, and the words below that said “think high and lofty”. Then his second was a large cross bearing Jesus name. The large cross had a chain holding a smaller cross with his name on it. It was another moment you just can’t forget, as you praise the youth and their boldness. Ok so finally I get to the Double Tree, soak in the hot tub and make it back to my room. I even get blessed by a return phone call from my daughter after I left her a message. Finally, I get to sleep. I am awoken at 3:30 in the morning by a prophetic dream, sweating, and freaking out. This dream was about me and a specific long time friend. She and I decided to go on a short vacation together, so eventually after a long drive we arrive at a Double Tree. She told me I stunk and needed to take a bath she was leaving. She went shopping. After I showered I was going down to the lobby to see if there was a food bar, as I was hungry and broke. By the time I get to the first floor I am in my underwear only. Yikes. Then when the door opened it was like Sodom and Gomorrah everywhere. Hundreds of people were crazy wasted partying and having orgies all over the lobby. I ran to find some food, ate and ran back to my room. When the elevator brought me back to the sixth floor, I had all my clothes on. I ran to my room got my pajamas on, then I got my bible out of my suitcase, and crawled into bed. I was speed reading and speaking in tongues when my friend returned from shopping. She saw me in the spirit and said “Becky you are crazy and your Jesus is crazy.” She then told me I could find my own way home. I was awoken to gospel praise music on the TV, and knew I had to write the dream down then pray about it. Then God gave me the interpretation which is pretty simple. “Stay very near to me, soon things in this world will get really crazy. Be prepared, you will be mocked.” Well fat chance I was going to go back to sleep after that, so I prepared for my interview by hitting the computers and looking up "How to answer the 64 toughest interview questions".
Then I prepared physically for the interview. I just have to interject something here. You know that sassy new do? Well it is a pain in the rear end to fix for something professional and not the strawberry patch or church. Men have no clue, as we women really need four hands. You have one hand with the brush, one with the blow dryer. Then you put the blow dryer between your legs to get the spray junk, and you burn your thighs. Then the process is the straightener, more goop, and you haven’t even started on makeup. UGH. Well anyway, I prepare early enough to go to Target and get some small earrings as I forgot mine and I picked up a Starbucks quad latte. I felt so special, I so miss the city. So my first interview was with the HR person. It was rather laid back of an interview. I am gathering it was more of a “relax and let’s make sure you have time to get here on time to make appointments” type interview. Or at least, that is what it seemed like to me. Well the first guy had an interruption so I had to meet with the CFO, my second scheduled interview. We spoke for two hours. It was very exciting as we talked about regular life and work very easily. But wouldn’t you know it; I sat with my legs crossed the entire time. When I stood to shake his hand I fell over into the wall. My foot fell asleep and went under me. I was afraid I had sprung it. So I had to take my shoe off, take some time to shake my foot and slowly walk it out. I told him that he probably would never forget his interview with me. LOL The second and third interviews I am pretty sure went ok. It seemed to me that we fed off of each other discussing the work and experiences. Interaction was great! Then it was time to have lunch with the HR lady again. We went to Fat’z and I had my first taste of fried green tomatoes. Yum! By the time we returned it was almost 5pm. The interview was much longer than expected. I hope that is a good sign and not that I am Ms Chatty Cathy who had her first quad latte in 3 months. I won’t know about the job for a couple of weeks, as they have a few more to interview. If it doesn’t come to fruition, it’s ok. I know God has that perfect job out there that is just waiting for me. God helped me to think before I spoke in that interview and open my mouth to speak with confidence and intelligence. It was the first time in a long time when I felt like I nailed an interview. More importantly, I learned so much on just the trip by meeting so many people in my path. If the only reason I was chosen for that interview was for that one person and to plant a seed, then I am grateful regardless the outcome. |

It's been fun to read part 2! Yep, if you were sent there just to speak to those in your path then it was worth the trip. But it would be nice if you'd land the job too! Time will tell... We know you're walking in the Lord's plan, whatever it may be! Keep us posted. |
