It was a deserved win. Korea won the third place and won't need to qualify for Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar. Even though it was a win, coach Verbeek decided to quit coaching Korea. Now the Korea Football Association is finding a new coach to hire.
On all the knockout stages that Korea was in, they were all 0-0 and they were all penalty shootouts at the end. Iran and Japan both had European-based players, but Korea beat both of them with only one European-based player. The rest of the European-based players for Korea did not come to the Asian Cup since they were all injured, but it was a success to beat Iran and Japan. Since we beat them both with only one European-based player, I actually started to trust Verbeek, but he still said that he wanted to quit.
Iraq became the champion of Asia by beating the Saudis 1-0. Jorvan Vieira, the Brazilian guy who coached Iraq, also decided to quit coaching Iraq, but he is interested in becoming a new coach for Korea. Then he was contacted by Korea Football Association. Vieira and Verbeek were both on the same airplane and became good friends. They probably talked about coaching Korea.
