| In the twinkling of an eye |
|

1 Corinthians 15:52; In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Look at a clock or a watch that has a second hand and while counting down 5 seconds open and close your eyes very quickly. How many times were you able to blink your eyes? I was able to blink my eyes 20 times in 5 seconds which would average to about 4 blinks per second. It is safe to say then that a twinkling of an eye can be a fraction of a second. That is not a lot of time although a lot of things can happen in a moment of time. You can blink your eye while driving and have a serious accident. A bullet can rip through your heart in a fraction of a second. That is faster than you can speak.
You can open and close your eyes faster than you can open and close your mouth. There are people that think that they can live like the devil and repent at the last minute. A twinkling of an eye doesn't give you much time to form the words in your mouth before your life expires. Why take chances with your life? There are too many variables to consider when contemplating possible outcomes. The best odds are the ones that are more favorable. I placed all my bets on the winner and his name is Jesus Christ. Luke 17:26-29; And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. The days of Noah were pretty much the way things are now. People were going about their business not even considering the warnings of an omnipotent God. This world we live on was a very different place before the flood. In the book of Genesis where it says that God separated the waters above the atmosphere from the waters below the atmosphere let us examine what that means: Genesis 1:6-7; And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. The word firmament is translated as heaven which can also be translated as the atmosphere that we live in. If such is the case then there was water above the atmosphere in such a volume that when it fell back to the earth it was able to cover the highest mountains. Let us look at another verse that speaks of the same thing. 2 Peter 3:5-7; For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. Somebody better learn how to read their Bible! When all of that water began to fall from the upper atmosphere it came down like a massive waterfall at such speed that the sheer volume of water took 40 days and 40 nights to fall back onto the earth. The people living on the earth at that time did not stand a chance. There was not even time for anyone to run to a higher altitude. Swimming would have been impossible since the massive weight of the water falling would not allow for anyone to reach the surface of the water to breathe. The only safe place was in the Ark. The Ark was designed in such a way that if it was submerged it would bob back up to the surface immediately. Isn't it amazing that in all the earth there was only one boat that could survive the catastrophe? The only creatures that survived besides the ones in the Ark were the creatures that lived in the oceans. Where do you think the bodies of all the dead humans and animals were going to end up?
Remember we are talking about the blinking of an eye. Just that quickly people were perishing. Just that quickly people are perishing now. Those of you that are playing church and straddling the fence won't have time to repent. Jesus will come and go and you will be caught with your pants down. How much time do you think you have? Just think about how many things can happen in the blink of an eye. Worse yet the Bible says that Jesus will come at a time when we least expect. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12; And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
If you won't serve God now what makes you think you can serve him after Jesus comes and goes? If you don't believe the truth now you won't be able to later. It will be too late. Now is the acceptable time. Don't keep playing the sin game like Samson did. Even his great strength couldn't save him in the end. There are people that will tell you that you can't lose your salvation but that doesn't mean that you can live any way you want to. If you are committing any type of sin when Jesus comes you will not go with him. What excuse can you possibly have for such stupidity? Forest Gump said stupid is is stupid does. I guess if you keep doing stupid things it's because it's in your nature to be that way.
There is a cure for that. His name is Jesus Christ and if you let him he can fix you. You need to go to the shop and get some bodywork done! While you are there you can get your interior fixed as well and get an oil change and a tune up. Then you can pass inspection and take a ride on the King's Highway. Jesus can fix you up better than Jiffy-Lube! I already got my makeover! Go get yours! God bless you! Shalom |
