Homosexuality, Incest, And Other Sins
Romans 1: 22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25Who changed the truth of God into a lie…26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
If you want to sin, and choose to ignore the voice of God, God will allow you to have that sin. Do you understand? If sin is in your heart, and that sin is what you want most, you will get what you desire. We will always wrestle with temptation, but if your passion is to steal, lie, and cheat, you will be taken over by such sins. Therefore, walk closely to God. He will give you new desires.
Many of the men of Sodom and Gomorrah desired sex with each Other. Homosexuality was their desired sin. Let us be careful about the sins we desire because one day God will say enough is enough. Genesis 19:5 “And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.” This is the same Lot who thought he was getting over on Abraham by choosing the best looking land. Lot was choosing Sodom and Gomorrah, yet he didn’t realize it. After living in such a sinful place for so long, why didn’t Lot and his family move away? Not only that, why is Lot offering his virgin daughters to those sexually defiled men? Why should his daughter ever respect him again? “8Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.”
Sodom and Gomorrah was so filthy God sent two angels to destroy it. “13For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.” Knowing the angel’s agenda, why did Lot linger in that sinful place? Let us learn from Lot. For one, he chose to live in Sodom because it looked so beautiful. Next, he knew the lifestyle of the people, yet he and his wife and daughters remained there. Let us separate ourselves from destruction. “15And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.” In verse 17, the angels commanded the family not to look back at the city as it is being burnt. “26But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Why did the wife look back? Why did Lot linger? Is it because the wife had family/friends there? Is it because of their career? Is it because of the upcoming wedding of their daughters? Could Lot and his wife have been caught up in the sinful activities in Sodom and Gomorrah? Whatever the reason, the wife looked back and became stuck. Be careful about looking back. Forget the former things. ”Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland”(Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV).
Lot’s family story goes from bad to worse. His daughters ended up violating him in the worse way. I believe the daughters practiced what they learned in Sodom and Gomorrah. “30And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. 31And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: 32Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.” God’s view on Incest can be found in Leviticus 18.
Father, forgive us all of our sins. Jesus came to save the lost. We are all in need of Jesus. Father, Your Word commands us not to practice homosexuality, incest, violence, lust, hatred, and other sins. Cleanse us, Father. Protect our children from the polluted moral views of the world. Help us, Christians, to live holy instead of always preaching with our mouths. People will know us by our fruits. People will be condemned by our righteous lifestyle. Father, you say that those who win souls are wise (Prov 11:30). Give us wisdom. The world is marrying homosexuals. Father, this displeases You. However, Father, You have given us free will. Many reject Your way, Father. Help us to keep Your way. Have mercy on those who are blind. Help them to see Your path of holiness. In the name of Jesus.
