| One of My Father's Best Friends is now in Heaven with him |

Everyone, one of my dad's very best friends, Daryl Bernhardt, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is in Heaven now. He passed away on Wednesday, June 17th. He had gone into the hospital the day of my father's funeral, April 17, 2009. He fought a long illness of the lungs; but just like my daddy, he was one tough soldier! Daryl and his wife, Polly, were like second parents to me and they will be greatly missed. Our families were all stationed together in Keflavik, Iceland, at the Air Force Base there and we all remained friends throughout all these years that followed. It was wonderful being friends with them in Albuquerque, too. Daryl played a HUGE role in the success of my dad's political career there in Bernalillo County. He was listed as an Honorary Pall Bearer at my dad's funeral service. I know that my dad and "Bernie" as my dad liked to call him, are having a great time being reunited in Heaven. I'm so thankful that when don't mourn as the world does, without hope. We have so much to look forward to!! Nevertheless my heart goes out to Daryl's loved ones, it appears he will certainly be missed! |

Thank you, everyone. I loved him very much...yesterday, Father's Day, was so tough, losing Dad, then his best friend (who was like my 2nd dad). You wouldn't believe how long I hugged my father-in-law while wishing him a Happy Father's Day. I think I saw tears in his eyes, too.
