Wickedness is knowing the right way, "the God way" and then taking your own way. We are all guilty at some point of doing that, aren't we? Our culture allows so many gray areas, that it seems to be ok to step from holiness into worldliness once in a while...after all, who will point the finger at you? Not your Christian brothers and sisters...they wouldn't dare throw The Book in your face...because where sin abounds grace doth more abound, right? So what's the big deal? It's my life...I should make the decisions that feel right to ME--God will understand, won't he?
Are the Holy Scriptures just a guideline to use when we want? Is it just a "good book" to live by until you want to make decisions that are contrary to His Word?
10:26 For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Let's just read a little further...
For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins
but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.
A man who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?
(Heb.10: 26-29)
Is it not love then, to have The Book thrown in your face by those who see a treacherous outcome just a little farther up the road? Or is it better to continue in sin...and have our way...knowing of course, that our way surely is better than God's. Is it possible to be a Living Sacrifice when our way is more holy to us than God's way?
Worship is submissive, loyal, sacrificial, obedient to the Word of God. Jesus said "Why do you call me Master, but you don't do what I say?" Who are you worshipping?
