This is today's verse on mychurch:
4:1 What causes wars, and what causes fightings among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members?
4:2 You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
Beyond it is James 4:11: Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and destroy: who art thou that judgest another? KJV
Before it is James 3:8-9: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. KJV
Tonight, as I asked God what He wanted me to blog about, He took me to II Chronicles Chapter 15. In Chapter 14, King Asa "did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God", so God blessed the beginning of his reign to win the war they were in with the Ethiopians. In chapter 15, Azariah tells Asa that as long as he continues to follow God's teachings, he will be blessed, but if he turns away, he will lose God's blessing. Asa was encouraged by these words and because of that there was no more war for 35 years. In Chapter 16, during the 36th year of Asa's reign, Asa chose to rely on men instead of calling on God. When Hanani told him he had disobeyed God and had lost his blessing, so there would be wars again, instead of asking God for forgiveness, Asa put Hanani in prison.
What does all this have to do with Barack Obama, you ask? Because Barack Obama is a man, but I have heard and read opinions that vary all the way from he will save this country to he is the antichrist, with alot of opinions in between, none of which have been that he is human like the rest of us. But if we, as a nation, put our trust in a man, instead of God, we will lose God's blessing (and He has blessed this very young nation richly). However, cursing Mr. Obama is not the answer either.
I once saw a bumper sticker that read "God is not a Republican (He is not a Democrat either)". The same car had an Episcopal church bumper sticker as well. As a Baptipalean, I know that God is not an Episcopalean (He is not Baptist, either).
God bless all of you. And God (continue to) bless America.
