Spiritual principals were set in motion from the beginning. We do indeed reap what we sow. The people in the East call it Karma. Down south they say, what goes around comes around. Others say, what goes up must come down. In physics, Newton said, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. No matter what we call 'It', truth is, 'It's' real! The good thing about being a blood-washed believer is that the scriptures gives us hope that it is God who does the 'watching over'. Paul, already steeped in the philosophical studies of his time, having been taught by Gamaliel, was well aware of the teachings on the Universe. But, like when he was at Mars Hill, He refers to It/the universe as God. The Psalmist and dancing king, David called 'It',
Jehovah El-Roi-the Lord my Shepherd. One translation, the one I like most, defines Jehovah Roi (ro-hee) as the mighty on who sees. I believe it was the Chronicler who picked up on the latter when he said, "the eyes of the Lord roam to and fro throughout the whole earth, seeking to show himself strong to those whose hearts are devoted wholeheartedly to him (I Chr.16:9).
So, what does all this reaping in destruction mean? I am reminded of Proverbs 14 where we are reminded
that there is a way which seems right to man, but that way leads to destruction. Time and again, we are admonished not to rely upon our own understandings but to rely on the wisdom which comes from God, never forgetting to acknowledge him. We all feel the effects of what greed and selfish/fleshly desires lead to when we allow them to lead us. There is no other way to explain what has happened to the American economy. We are witnesses that this scripture is true. We are reaping what we've sowed. Since I've mentioned the economy, try to visualize a cosmic bank which collects the deposits of all we do, motives included. When the time for dividend dispersal arrives,
what will you receive?
6:7 Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
