This past week was Father Day and the men of Praise Temple were honored with a breakfast prepared by the women's ministry. The message was preached from a boat that was set up on the platform with Pastor Tim and Pastor Dean dressed up in fishing attire. This is part two of a message presented in like manner titled getting out of the boat of tradition. The message was about getting into the boat with Jesus. The story is shared by Pastor Tim of how Jesus was ministering and got on a ship to go to the other side. Jesus was tired from all the healing and casting out of devils, in that upon entering the ship he went to the hinder parts to rest. During this time there arises a terrible storm the like these seasoned fishermen had never encountered. The storm becomes so intense that these men thought that they would perish. In desperation, they awake Jesus and plea with the Lord to do something, lest we perish. Jesus rises to the occasion speaking peace be still. The storm ceases and the waves calm, Jesus marvels that they had no faith. It's important to note that these men had been with Jesus, they had been sent out to minister and had seen the power of God manifested in their lives. Pastor Tim and Pastor Dean discussed "how is that they had no faith"? What if, you had been on that ship and the storm began to rock your world, would you have rebuked the storm or sought Jesus in the hinder part of the ship. The sad truth is, how would we as Christians, react when we're put in the position of having to believe? What if, your family doctor discovers that you have cancer, that's like a major storm that has come up from out of no where. Would you seek for Jesus in the midst of this storm? The message is about getting in the boat with Jesus. What if, Jesus is not on board "when the storms come upon you"? The fact is that Jesus wants to be the captain of your ship. Jesus promised to never leave you nor will he forsake you. Jesus can take away the fear of death, Paul said, for me to die is gain. Dying is the beginning of living for those that are in Christ Jesus. He went to prepare a place for us, that where he is, we can be also. A place of no more sickness, no more sorrow and no pain and no more separation. There we'll forever be with the Lord. Do you want to get in the boat? Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, reserves you a place in the boat with our Lord. Don't miss it, this is one cruise of a life time. |
