It is late as I sit here and think about what I can say right now. There is a lot on my heart, but yet I want to make sure that what I say will reach unto the deep parts of your heart, so that you can be challenged.
Afterall, that is the purpose of God's Word right? To reach into our hearts and divide the light from the darkness?
The Word of God is not meant to be a "feel good message", but rather it is supposed to shine the light of God's love upon a dark and sinful nation (which we are currently living in) and lead us (all of us) to repentance. There are too many people in the world today who only open up the Bible when they need peace in thier lives. Too many people fail to acknowledge that in order to obtain peace, you must go through the darkest place of your soul and give unto God what you don't want Him to see. You must acknowledge the sin in your life fully and completely.
For you see, we can not truly appreciate God's love and walk close with Him, until we realize the truth about how far away we have wandered away from Him. The prodigal son didn't realize the love of the father until he returned and repented. It was then, after his father had forgiven him, that he understood the true darkness of his sin.
When we are wandering in the wilderness and the darkness of our lives, sometimes it is hard to see what God is doing. And just like the Israelites, our sins cause us to wander around aimlessly, looking for that promise land but never finding it.
Yet, that is why it is painful sometimes to walk along the journey that the Word of God takes us on. Because the more and more we dive deeper in what He is telling us....the more we see our true nature and the more we know that we need to change.
But we don't want to change. We are humans. We make up ever excuse in the book so that our sins can remain hidden. We enjoy the pleasure too much. We enjoy it until our sin eats away at our souls and we find ourself broken and torn apart.
God uses His word to take our world apart. His word divides the light from the darkness and always speaks in Truth. When we listen, He removes the pieces of our already fragmented life and replaces it with Him. The darkness of our sin removed, the light of Christ now lives. Now we can enjoy what joy, love, peace, and forgiveness really feels like.
So when you think that your world is falling apart, just be patient because in reality, God is really just putting the pieces together.
~ Jeremy ~
The following song really speaks concerning how God can take your world apart. Please google the lyrics and let God speak to you.
I don't see the song. But that's ok. I totally get where you are coming from bro. At first, I wanted to say, "But Jeremy, God's word IS a feel good message! It doesn't get much more feel good than God so loved the world..." But again, I do see what you're saying. To get to the bliss of that relationship w/God, there is so much of US to get beyond. And that can be very painful.
I am sorry that you missed the song. It is Worlds Apart by Jars of Clay. Also, I am glad that you found the true meaning behind my blog. Yes, God's Word is a feel good message in the sense that it spreads the message of redemption and love; however it is also a message that divides the heart. It brings light into the darkest places of our being....and that, more often then we would like to admit, is a painful place. But to know His joy after He has redeemed us!!!!! Such joy it is.
