06/30/09 It is MRSA but a light case=Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in humans. It may also be referred to as multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or oxacillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (ORSA). MRSA is by definition a strain of Staphylococcus aureus that is resistant to a large group of antibiotics called the beta-lactams, which include the penicillins and the cephalosporins.
06/28 update tonight: They found Staph in his sputum and are testing for mrsa, suddenly NO grands under age 12 allowed in and everyone has to wear gowns and masks that do come. They think he may have picked up something his last trip in.
Dad is being made comfortable. He has severe pneumonia. Had a 105 temp, talking out of his head. He feels much better tonight and said they are doing some invasive test inside his lung (brochniascope?) to see why he is spitting up blood. He is now down to 103 lbs. He is drinking ice cream in his ensure to help. He said he took some pain pills and "goofy pills" and hopes to sleep in a minute. I am on the phone with him now. He is groggy but feeling good. |

Pneumonia? I'm really sorry to hear, Juanita. That's rough. I've had several friends battle pneumonia the last few months, including Kris (who had an exceptionally tough case). A prayer for your daddy is offered. God bless you sister! |

| yep, pneumonia but he was diagnosed with emphysema and copd in 1996 and is on oxygen 24/7, thank you all for the prayers. |

| Dear Father, i pray for Juanita's daddy again. I ask you to strengthen his lungs and help him fight this infection. Keep all germs away from him Lord and help all the medical staff to tend expertly to his needs. I pray he will be comfortable and able to breathe with more and more ease. I pray too he would put on some weight and grow in physical strength day by day. Help others around him to know when to let him rest and not to tire him beyond his abilities. Help him when he is quiet to think and rest in your perfect care and love. I ask too for comfort and strength for all the family members, esp. his wife and Juanita Mae who is far and is also battling sickness. Keep them all safe and strong, In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. |
