Psalm 91:1 promises us that if we dwell in the shelter of the Most High; that is, if we live in the household of the Lord, we will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This means that we will be covered by God's protection. to dwell in the house of the Lord, means more than living inside the temple in Jerusalem that was destroyed in 70 A.D. or even living in our church buildings. It means to live our life in God's presence in the manner and by the ethics of God. Who protects you? Who's shelter do you dwell in? If you are self-reliant, then you are dwelling in your own house. If you put your trust in material things, in your ability to make money and secure your own future, you dwell in the shelter of the world. If you are God-reliant, if you throw yourself on God's grace, if you live for Christ and not your own gain; then it is Almighty God (El Shaddai) who protects and cares for you. There is nothing more sure and secure than the providence of God! 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, |
