| My Cross Country Trip Across 3,754 Blessed Miles |
|
| |
Finally, I am well enough to write about my amazing cross country trip. It was so fabulous I don't know where to begin, but I suppose I should just start at the beginning.
Sunday June 21st, I took off for a short jog to Salisbury, NC. I was to meet Kathy at Enon Baptist Church, her place of worship. How fortunate I was that she was to be the Sunday School teacher that day. Let me tell you folks, you can tell that she is an awesome Professor in the college by the way she conducted her Sunday School Class. She was very well organized, prepared and a truly anointed Sunday School Teacher. She spoke of the bible and it was AWESOME. She made a reference to El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha, and when it rolled off her tongue I knew why she was a successful Spanish Professor. I was truly blessed to have been there on that day!
Kathy has such a sweet spirit about her, and you know in her presence that she spends a lot of time with God. She really radiates, pictures do not do her justice. Although, I too was quite surprised, she is very petite, but strong in her spirit. It was truly worth it just to tell her thanks in person, for all her prayers and wise words throughout these past few years. Oh, and it was also worth it to get one of Kathy's REAL hugs, cyber hugs are ok, but not like her real ones.

So I drove the rest of the day Sunday through Tennessee and tried to make it past Little Rock, AR to pop my tent. Cindy told me it wasn't safe east of Little Rock so I got a cheap motel because I just couldn't drive any further. Monday I woke and drove on into Ft Smith AR to meet "the clan", or so I will call them.
We met at Sweet Bay Coffee shop. Oh where to start with "the clan"? Well we laughed and carried on like we had known each other for years. I had spoke to Latonya often on the phone and also to Cindy within the last few months, so being able to put facial mannerisms with the voice was a special treat. But to meet Grammy and Ken for the first time, priceless. Oh and yes the hugs, lots of hugs. But once again for me it was very special to be able to tell them thanks face to face for all the support, prayers and wisdom.

CindyLou writes like her sweet fun loving spirit. She is just as ornery in person as she is on the screen. She is very knowledgeable and intelligent. She has a laugh that just makes you want to laugh with her. Her spirit is so full of life she just radiates life. She mentioned that she would be one of those Maxine type Grandma's and yep, I can see it. She and Ken are lovingly sweet towards each other and it was beautiful to watch.
Kenny is a friend that you really ought to get to know. Shamefully I hadn't spent to much time getting to know him out on line. This I will change, as he and I had some time to talk alone and he gave me some very wise advice. He is full of wisdom, a source that should not be ignored. He is also one of those good ole boys, the kind who always has your back.
GrammyB, what a treat to meet her in person. She is so beautiful, we convinced her to try and change her picture because it just didn't do her justice. Oh and the stories she had to tell, just like on the screen. She is such a hoot in person. She was a mommy to us all serving us delicious deserts, trying to get us to eat more. She has a sweet spirit that too radiates life.
Sugg well there is a lot to say about Miss LaTonya! As Mrs W put it well she is just sweet, yes she is sweet and a whole lot more. Her giggles are just priceless. She is just priceless! I got to spend a lot more time with her as after we left everyone she and I drove back to Bentonville to see the sugarbabies. Our time together was Immeasurable. After many long nights on the phone, to being able to go have coffee, dinner, cruise and listen to Christian music our time together was awesome. We slept like little girls in sleeping bags at a sleep over and it was a lot of fun. At one time we were laying there I said oh Sug I forgot to pray, "Dear Lord Thank You". She interrupted and said "in Jesus Name, Amen. Now Go to sleep Becky" Just like that Sugamomma to put me in my place and tell me to go to sleep.
I had to wake up early and hit the road again, so dropping of Latonya was hard in the morning. We said our goodbyes, and I was off. I made it through Oklahoma and Kansas back home. God was so good in that he helped my family and I restore our relationships. My daughter and I had what I think was a marvelous time together.

Sadly though I hit my family during harvest so I didn't get to spend much time with them. I spent four glorious days with my family and daughter then took off towards KC on Saturday. I saw an old friend for lunch. Went back by the old neighborhood. Then I went to church with my dear friend Meredith and stayed at her house. In the morning I went to church with a dear friend I met in NC, named Sachi, at the IHOP then I took off for St Louis.
At St Louis I met Red Shirted Daddy Gene. He was a delight to meet. Wouldn't you just know it, he wore a red shirt so I could recognize him. Gene is one of those people, like the others I met on my trip that you just won't forget easily. Many great stories were told and he had a lot of wisdom to share with me, as he always has on the screen. Once again, thanking a person face to face for all they have done for you was priceless.

After St. Louis I drove to Mt Vernon, popped a tent and really met God there. Thanked Him for such a lovely trip with friends and family. After awaking I made the drive through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and back through North Carolina. Yes it was a long grueling trip, but one I would do all over again if I had the chance.
For all of you out there who have made good friends online, yes they are not just faces on a screen. Mychurch people are real people with real lives. They have been invaluable to me on my journey, I wish I could meet you all face to face. If not here, then in heaven.
Below is a small video of the entire trip, Hope you can enjoy it. Oh and please excuse the date on the photos...LOL, still need to change that thing.

Whoa... forget to respond to a few comments a week ago and then it gets doubled... LOL guess it was my OWN fault for not keeping up. I first want to welcome some of the new commers to my site and Mychurch then go back and talk to some of my old dear friends. LOL... I suppose I have yet to serve in the greeter job at a home church, so I am going to practice on my blog. Well it is my blog, I can do what I want right, or what God is telling me to do...
Sharon - Hi, and welcome to my blog. Thank you for the star. I see that you are a fellow North Carolinian too. May God bless you and your time on Mychurch as we ALL grow up in the Word and in Jesus, under the guidance of our Abba Daddy Father, GOD.
Susan - Hello and welcome as well. I do have to be honest here, I was really confused by your comments and had to pray, praise, and ask for discernment. I know this must seem kinda strange, as a blog. I am maybe honored enough to be considered an almost "old timer" here on Mychurch. I have probably been a member for a little over 2 years now, through which I have TRULY been blessed, delivered & refined. Many of these people you see as pictures on here have really been there for me through many very difficult trials and tribulations. There are MANY MANY MORE people that I would LOVE to meet. But these are the only ones that I was blessed to be able to coordinate a first face to face meeting with on my journey back & forth towards my hometown in Kansas.
See God is so good that He ALWAYS sends in the right Angel at the right time, always on time, here on Mychurch. To be able to meet some of the people that you chat with, blog with, share growing experiances with, and grow in the Lord with is almost a blessing more than meeting them here on Mychurch.
God blessed me with the not only the opportunity to make this drive by keeping me safe as I drove all by myself with only God as my co-pilot, but he truly annointed our coffee or church meetings as we physically, hugged versus cyberlly hugged which is the only way to hug on Mychurch.
I am going to make the assumption that when you are saying sending in the plumber you mean that maybe the water works were flowing? I am praying that you were more blessed than you were confused.
Do you know you quoted one of my top five in favorite books in the psalms? I have spoken Psalms 139:14 over myelf in the last 2 years at least FIVE MILLION TIMES. Sometimes almost a hundred times within a few minutes. It has been a MAJOR phrase GOD used in my transformation towards TRUE FREEDOM IN THE SON. YES INDEED! I just about hit the floor and the ceiling when you spoke that verse over me.
I was although a little confused by the friend from the other side. I will be honest at first I thought it might be an attack from the Evil one. Then I looked at your profile and you meant the other side of the Country.... LOL... How ABSOLUTELY HILLARIOUS looking back at your comment. Praise the LORD for a true discerning spirit that followed as I tried to understand YOUR comment. GOD has a sense of humor too.... LOL... Well I am sorry sis but I really can't see California as a stop, on my next cross country trip. LOL.
Not that your sentence was bad, just MORE PROOF that comments on here can be misunderstood if you don't have the full armour of God on, and you don't take the time to respond back to complete strangers on the internet. Moreover, it helps me to understand the spirit of confusion that sometimes comes with internet socialization with complete strangers when you can not physically see the other important factors in communication, like body language or having a relationship with a stranger that you understand their language, dialect or humor.
More edification that I need to take more lessons from a couple of GREAT bloggers on here Mike & Laura, and Kathy who have gracefully responded to comments that are difficult to answer or that challenge your understanding of Your walk with the Lord. Or challenges that go against the teaching in your religion or church.
After this response back to you, I would LOVE to welcome your friendship. May God Always Bless you as you journey here on MyChurch in a truly Christian blogging website that is still annointed by God even though we may go through our little "growing pains" of learning how to communicate over the internet, breaking through religion, race, poverty, riches, annointings, and growing up in JESUS.
Love and blessing back to ya, and ps CYBER HUGS back atcha sis....XOXOXOXO Goodnight.

Rebbie...your trip looked like a blast from my own past, particularly the shot of American Cheese. Wow! I havent been back there in ages. It's awfully cold there though, so I'm delighted to be by the ocean in my latter years (52 in August!). Thank you for sharing with me what Psalm 139:14 meant to you.......Ive been a Christian a very long time now, and I think the older you get the more stymied you get., in terms of sharing with people urgings or pressings of the heart. I feld compelled to share with you the verse because I thought you needed to hear it, so thank you for sharing back at me that it's been your mantra for awhile.
My own mantra is "Consider the lilies of the field how they neither toil nor they spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as one of these. If God so clothes the lilies which are here today and gone tomorrow, how much more so will he care for you. O ye of little faith."
That particular scripture is important to me, because it is the complete opposite of my natural character, the unredeemed and unregenerated Susan. God's purpose for my life, since before I was ever formed and knit together in my mother's womb was to create a beautfiful fragrant lily that didnt toil or worry, no matter how hard the wind howled, no matter how hard the rain fell. My purpose is to stand, and be that fragrant lily. By the way, that's the meaning of my name in Hebrew: Shoshanna - Lily - Susan
Have a restful sleep......
Love and blessings..... x o x |

Kathy- Oh NO we can agree to disagree on this one sister. The pleasure was all mine. It was the best way to start off my trip, in church with you. Then to have God take away my second stop to visit that friend was a blessing.
I was just especially blessed by your teaching, and worshiping our Jesus together. I love you ma So Baptist Spirit Filled Sista Chick in NC.... shamefully.... I should go visit you more... it was only 1.5 hours to visit you and your church and I showed up early. But God was already there
For a woman who is blessed enough to get HUNDREDS of comments and attacks, or comments that should be convicting of our own strongholds that need to be broken.
For a woman who is blessed enough to know WHEN to post a blog with many thousands of words or very few words and a picture.
The BLESSING in meeting you face to face was all MINE. And I thank you for serving your Abba Daddy Father GOD, instead of your human Daddy on Fathers day Sunday.
They say that OBEDIANCE is the BEST kind of Praise and Worship you can Give your GOD and SAVIOR.
missing a real hug now.... *sigh* |

Mike & Laura - WHOA... my 2nd comment from you that YOU my teacher of blogging that encourages me and tells me that my blog is awesome, coming from another Highly Favored and Blessed Man annointed in the Spirit of God and Love when He writes...
You are my inspiration. I will attend your church with your family and Remarkable.... SOON. God told me to. I have learned that it is easier to Obey than procrastinate.
Question: Am I graduating from a teenager back to a toddler or growing into a pre-adult in my Christian walk with Jesus?
I don't EVER want to become a mature ADULT or ELDER even in blogging or commenting...
IF I DO I WANT TO BE DEAD... lol... well not really. So much can be learning in blogging and commenting. I asked God to help me demonstrate that fact here on this of all blogs my LONG trip to meet family and friends. |
