| If We Are Not Keeping God's Commandments, Do We Know Him? |
|
| |
2:3 And by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments. Obedience to God's commands is a vital part of knowing Him. Jesus also said: "If you love Me, you will keep my commandments," -- not you might keep them, but you will keep them. So if we are not keeping God's commandments, do we know Him? True salvation, true knowledge of God brings obedience. By His grace God gives us power to obey Him. We can use His gracious power of obedience or deny it. However grace unused, unaccepted, unapplied to our obedience to His commandments, does us no good. |

Praise God Steve...I knew you wouldn't get too many responses to this topic because nobody wants to keep Gods Commandments....but everybody say they love the Lord...But it goes back to the question....Do We Know Him?????
If you know Him (the Jesus of the bible) and truly love Him...you WILL keep His Commandments ;o) |

| Good blog Steve. Funny, I had something to this effect in mind - "true knowledge of God brings obedience" - as I read the first part of your blog. Then I saw it in the second paragraph, and realized I didn't need to comment after all! (but then I did anyway, lol) |

Very true, Mike. Disobedience is more fun and feels better in may ways than obedience. We all want to disobey. That is why we must die to ourself. Ole self doesn't want to obey so we must turn from self and follow Christ. We must do it His way, even when we don't want to.
I like it when Jesus told Peter to fish after Peter had fished all night. Peter said: "Lord, we have toiled all night and taken nothing. Nevertheless, at your word, I will let down the nets." That is true obedience. Doing what Jesus says, even when we don't want to. |

My dearly beloved of the Father which is in heaven:
Christ Jesus left you with one commandment since his first coming: Love your neighbor as yourself (not, Accuse your neighbor to exalt yourself); of which commandment mankind is incapable of doing; hence a Peace Offering is ordained.
Eternally with you! Your friend, Nicky |

| Okay Mike you are sooooo right, (smile) though it was merely a figure of speech, but if you want me to be specific, I'll say around 80% don't want to keep the Lords Commandments....and you don't have to be spiritual at all to see this ;o) |

MarJay, I think it's more like 82.7%, LOL Steve, I like your response, esp. Peter's example. In his own mind, he had already met the requirement. Yet as the Lord commands... |

| Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice. His voice spoke the commandments. They will know your my disciples because you keep my commandments. How could anyone know him that keeps not the commandments? |
