1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Is this true to me? It was to Paul. He wrote it down in his letter to the Phillippians. He proclaimed it to the world until the end of time. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Now that's a shout out!
Notice the Bible doesn't apply that to you and me. We have to apply it to ourselves.
To live is Christ? That means that our life is all about Jesus. Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the noontime, Jesus in the evening -- 24/7. And not just talking 'bout Him or wearing a Jesus T-shirt. It means loving Him constantly with all our body, mind, heart, and soul. It means setting our affections on Him. It means obeying Him moment by moment -- actually doing what He said, rather than what we want to do. I wonder? Is that true . . . for me? For you? For modern Christians?
And to die is gain? If we believe this one, why do we look at death as a loss, when Paul said it is a gain? Are we looking forward to dying and counting it as a gain?
I've still got quite a way to grow.
