. The Life Of David, "A man after God's own heart."
61:1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock [that] is higher than I. 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, [and] a strong tower from the enemy. 61:4I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. King David knew a little something about praising God. David sang with such an anointing that the demon spirits would leave King Saul. Saul was backsliding and knew that God had stop speaking to him because of his disobedience. David as a young man, developed a praise attitude towards God. David was gifted with a talent to make music and to write worshipful songs unto the Lord. Hear my cry O Lord, attend unto my prayer. David knew heartache and rejection, Saul's daughter that David married after slaying the giant, whom David loved mocked him, as he danced before the Lord. David had to know how to pray, because King Saul was hell bent on destroying him. God attended to David's prayer and kept David one step ahead of Saul's intentions of killing David. When my heart is overwhelmed, David knew the greatest attacks of the enemy. Davids own Sons in whom, he loved plotted to take over as King of Israel. David sang, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. David knew that God had chosen him, he was anointed to be King by Samuel the prophet of God. David understood that all things were in the hands of Almighty God, that old testament rock in the wilderness was Christ in the new testament.
10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. David reminds God that he had been a shelter and a strong tower for him. There's no way humanly possible that David could have been defeated, as long as the Lord was his shelter and his strong tower from the enemy. Just a little history lesson, Saul away from God had enemies from all sides making plans to attack and overthrow his kingdom. We find that God allows the Philistines to defeat and kill Saul and his Son in a battle. David's enemies don't ever factor in, until there was sin in the camp. David knew how to praise the Lord, for I will abide in thy tabernacle. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. David wrote in the first verse of the last five chapters of Psalms, Praise ye the Lord. O my soul, for it is good to sing praises unto the Lord.Praise him from the heavens and praise him from the heights. Sing unto the Lord a new song, Praise God in his sanctuary. I understand, it's not always glory to God. We that dwell in the flesh have seasons of sickness and other troubles. But the high praises were very much a part of David's victorious life. David at one of the lowest points in his life, encouraged himself in the Lord. God turned defeat of losing his and his men's family to the enemy into a time of celebration in having all their things restored. David went from zero to hero, with God's help. God's still in the helping business, He desires your praise. Would you give him the sacrifice of your praise? Would you stop your busy schedule, and give him praise? God's waiting to be praised. |
