Firstly - could you take an 8 question survey? As you may have noticed, we've been making lots of changes recently. And more changes are on the way. We'll be enhancing and adding to features, and we'll also remove a couple features that aren't being used. There's a good reason for all these changes which we'll share about soon. (hint: we've been meeting with a lot of folks from Facebook and other internet companies recently). In the meantime, could you think about which of these features you or your church can live without? - Church events - Friends' status updates (integrated w/ Twitter) - Testimonials ("what I love about this church") - Church groups What we want to know is... if we removed one of the above, which feature could you live without? Thanks! |

I took the survey. I do not understand what the following option means "- Friends' status updates (integrated w/ Twitter)". I use Twitter and my status updates appear on my profile page. Is that what you mean? Or do you mean that when we type a memo on MC, it appears on twitter? My guess is that you mean the former and I think that is a good feature. so I could live without Church groups. Thank you for soliciting our feedback at this time. Keep up the great work! |

I would also add that I strongly dislike the new way the blogs are listed, Unless I am on at the time I have no idea what blogs are posted, therefore I have missed many many great blogs! | I have recently just been coming in for quick check ins, and making quick responses. However, I will say that I've found the recent changes somewhat awkward to understand and navigate with. I'm not sure how these are beneficial. It seemed simpler and more amicable before the changes. I'm wondering if everyone else is enjoying / or o.k. with the present changes. Perhaps it is that I just need a time of adjustment. On the survey: undecided. |

I think everything is important and needed to someone, weather I use it or not, so if I had to pick, keep everything just cut down on having so many groups, but don't get rid of them, in fellowship each part is as important as the next. That just my take on the subject...
PS. Face Book may have more members, but so does the club on Saturday, than the church on Sunday, that doesn't mean we change the service...nor should we change this here...Spiritual things should never be the same as worldly things. It's Day and Night. |

I am also sad/frustrated by the recent blog changes. I would rather you not get rid of groups just because I was going to see if we could make the groups section help replace the things we lost with the recent changes (though admitedly we had not used the groups in the past)
I would be okay losing the testimonials because we use this more for our congregation, not for getting others to join our congregation.
I do like the new prayer request feature, however if we still had the church blog feature we could have put prayer requests in there. |

| I have taken the survery. There's such a thing as a good idea, and a God idea. Someone needs to decide the difference between the two. And I agree, a chat option would be nice. And I also agree with Denise. Blogs (although posted) seem to disappear into oblivion - and nobody can trace anything anymore. BRING BACK THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE ALL THE CHANGES TOOK PLACE, with the addition of a chat line - so that people can sort things out if need be in a heartbeat, rather than it dragging on - and people backslide and leave because of it. Why? Because there's someone close to some of our thoughts that is going through hell. But rather than help, they report. With a chat line installed, things could have been well on the way to being sorted out, and they could have been well on the way to recovery and rediscovering what Jesus died to give them. Need I say more? There's some people here who know exactly who I mean. Here ends my comment in addition to all the other comments I have inputted in the survey. |

Wow! sorry to see church groups opted out so many times. It was one of my primary desires in joining the site. To create a women's group for my church that we could all interact with one another in this forum.
Updates to Twitter would have been my choice as I update Twitter offsite anyway. |

Taking off from the comment given from (the other) Denise & from Stevie Bee... regarding seeing our Blogs. I had to look high and dry myself wondering where t'was... I did eventually see that I could get to my own blog post through my profile. If you look there, you will find it. (Hmm! that sounds like a line from a Science fiction!!). | The blogs don't disappear but you actually have to take the time to go to the person's profile page to see if they have posted a blog recently.. since I haven't had time to always be on here everyday, let alone constantly, I know I have missed a lot of blogs by not checking everyone's profile page that's on my friends list. Before the changes they would have showed up as recent events, now all the recent comments show up.. I, too, would love to see that feature disabled since the comments are just in the way. |

Seems the vast majority of people want the blog page back. And as for the question: What we want to know is... if we removed one of the above, which feature could you live without? Seems the friend "online" feature is in the firing line again - with the added feature of it being integrated with "Twitter." Will there be an opt-out section if people don't wish it to be integrated with Twitter? And I hope MyChurch doesn't follow FaceBook by allowing third party companies to take WITHOUT PERMISSION pictures and suchlike and place them elsehwere, probably in a different context, and probably making money out of it in the process. FaceBook is allowing this to happen, therefore people have taken steps by "protecting" their stuff because they disagree. There needs to be clarification here that MyChurch will not do it. Its one thing having meetings with FaceBook and other Internet compainies, but quite another - allowing them to take over.
Going back to "without permission." People here posts things out of the goodness of thier hearts (pictures and otherwise) free of charge. If things were "copyrighted" then they (the third party companies) would have to ask permission by the "poster" of such things to post stuff elsewhere, and if the answer is no - and it appears elswhere, copyright laws spring into action. Sorry to bring this to people's attention, but FaceBook is allowing this to happen WITHOUT PERMISSION from the people concerned, and people have took action to prevent it. So unless otherwise stated - and people post stuff on FaceBook as well as MyChurch, it should be firmly rooted and grounded on MyChurch. So unless otherwise stated, there needs to be a guarantee that it will not happen. After all, would people like third party Internet companies (probably unknown, therefore open to misinterpretation and abuse) taking stuff without permission, making money out of it in the process (getting royalties) out of what people do here for free? Clarification please. |

I agree with what everyone said about making it easier to see the posted blogs rather than the posted comments. Although blogs haven't disappeared, we all seem to be having trouble keeping track of them. Keep up the great work otherwise! |
|
|
| July 27, 2009 |

|
|
I agree with Joyful Servant. Seeing posted blogs - rather than just posted comments on blogs. Blogs are being overlooked because people can't see them unless they go onto the profile page of the person that's posted it - or click on the "My Blog" box, which then has a feed to all the blogs that people are following (I think). It was much easier before, so can someone please bring it back? Why does it have to be so drawn out and complicated to find stuff anymore? Wouldn't it have been easier to leave it as it was than change it? Better still, add onto it - rather than take stuff away? I'll be waiting with baited breath as to what the changes will be next.
Lastly. There's links toYahoo, Gmail and Hotmail already. And it also mentions "Connect with Facebook." If people want to find friends using those links, all they've got to do is click onto them to find them, and if they want to - invite them to MC.
Lastly, lastly. FaceBook is a bigger organisation and has more clout than what MC has (legal eagles that draw up legal documents that are hard to get out of). Are people sure MC wouldn't be taken over once the ball starts rolling? Think of it another way. Samson was attracted to the looks of Delilah. Although he got what he wanted, he suffered the consequences thereafter, and it took a LONG time to gain back what he lost, all because one thing looked more attractive than the other. I bet somewhere in his prayer was, I wish I hadn't have done it. When Samson got attracted to Delilah, Delilah took control. After all, there was a "penalty clause" of why Delilah wanted Samson. It wasn't so much his looks that gained her attention, but his strength. He payed a heavy price when he lost it. The same could be said about Adam and Eve and the tree of knowledge. When they were tempted and took hold of it, everybody suffered thereafter - all because it looked "inviting".
Somewhere buried in that statement above lies a story of when something is agreed, they take over. But they only find that one out after the event, when everything is signed and sealed, and there's no "go back" clause to undo it. Or another way of putting it. "Step into the parlour said the spider to the fly." Its only when people step into it, that they find out they are trapped. Know what I'm saying Mychurch team? Think about it, talk about it and pray about it before making a decision. Its harder to go back once the decision is made to 'hook-up' with Internet companies - than it is to move forward, especially when its been signed, sealed and delivered. |

| I am new to all of this.. I'm not on Facebook,Twitter,or Myspace so I can't comment on what they are doing but I can say the reason I joined this site is because it is a Christian site! There is a lot going on with the other sites that I didn't feel confident with at this time in my life as a personal choice and not knowing much about how these sites work. So for me, the MyChurch site felt like a safer site to be on.I don't think this site should try to be just like the rest... it should strive to be above the rest. |

| I like Candice Cummings comment. Quote: I don't think this site should try to be just like the rest... It should strive to be above the rest. And good question Gary Robison. Are they? Cos it seems all's quiet on the western front. They've informed people that changes are in the air, but there's been no feed-back as of yet from them. so people are in limbo-land as to what happens next. And for the record. My suggestions above have come at things from all different angles - to weigh-up the 'pros and cons' so only the truth comes out as to why these changes are happening. Before the changes, nothing was wrong with it! Its just that somebody decided it needed fixing. So as the saying goes over here, why try to fix something that don't need fixing? If there was any "fixing" involved - add a chat line, so that things could be sorted out almost in a heartbeat, instead of allowing it to drag on to the extent that communication by some individuals have just shut down. What's happened since that shutdown, nobody knows. Are people here to help people, or drive them into oblivion? Like I wrote about above before all this kicked off: a good idea is not necessarily a God idea. And its up to "people" (mentioning no names) to decide the difference between the two. |
|
|
| July 30, 2009 |
 |
|
|
Gary, I am sure they are! Stevie, good point, a good idea is not necessarily a God idea. I am sure that the site doesn't need "fixing", but the owners (who have invested MUCH of themselves, time, money, reputation, etc.) surely have a vision that is bigger than what MyChurch currently is...I believe. Hey, that would be a cool blog from the team! "Our Vision of the Future of MyChurch!" In the meantime, I'm just rolling w/whatever they put out, as long as it facilitates communication rather than shuts it down. :-) (So far, so good!) ps... My own comment, maybe a filter on our homepage would be handy, so we can decide whether we want to track blogs, comments, etc. real-time. I would opt out of tracking comments, there are too many of them, and I have been losing track of blogs others have written lately. |

| I like Candice joined My Church because it was a Chrisrian site wher ewe can come to share with likeminded people,a place of prayer, praise and encouragement I also agree that some of the comments of late have been to say the least unkind and unhelpful, if it can't be said in love then it is best not said.I'm also not sure about chat as I did witness some rather odd chat comments on another Christian site wich were neither helpful or pleasant to the person that they were directed. |

[star!] | I agree with Stevie Bee, I hardly read peoples blogs anymore (which I loved doing) and I tend to blog more on facebook (with less comments might I add) it is very frustrating when friends ask if you read their blog and you have to say "NO I NEVER KNEW IT WAS THERE". As for profile comments, you can only see them when a new one pops up. MC has changed alright! for the better?? I think not. As Stevie Bee says a Chat option could save a lot of unneccessary confusion. Stu |

almost ALL of our church has left here to go to facebook. I enjoyed being able to see the posts/comments/blogs, etc. Now all I see are prayer requests. Those are important, don't get me wrong. They are VERY important. But I really miss the look of the site before you changed it. Sorry guys! I know you've worked hard, but the general consensus seems to be the same as mine. |

I'm on FB and am a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Mooresville NC. we can't figure out how to get a moderator. We also can't find who started Liberty ON facebook, since by default HE/SHE would be the moderator, and we can't figure out who that is to ask them to allow other moderators. Can you check records, and contact whoever started our church into facebook and ask them to step forward and appoint me or someone else as moderator? |
