This week I've been helping my friend (another Emily) with her church's VBS. She's from St. Luke's Lutherin Church, and it's just down the street from us! It's been a lot of fun, but I'm really tired! Emily, my friend Mary, a girl named Katherine, and an adult (Jennifer) are taking care of the Pre-school group. That's 13 four-year-olds. A lot are very well behaved, but you know little kids, if one continuously causes a problem it's just like if they were causing problems.
The theme is "Avalanche Ranch- A wild ride through God's Word", and everytime we hear that slogan we have to pretend we're grabbing our cowboy overall's, stick out one foot on its heel, and say, "I'm on a wild ride! Uh-huh!" It's very cute to see all the little kids saying that. Also, each day there's a bible buddy (a cowboy related animal with matching name. Example: Buc the Bronco) who helps the little kids remember a certain phrase each day. Today's was "God is Awesome" and the others were "God is Real", "God is With Us", and "God is Strong", and if anyone ever says one of those, we have o swing our arm in the air like we're throwing a lasso and go "Woo-hoo!!" Again, very cute to see the little kids.
Little kids aren't really my thing, but it's just so fun to listen to what they have to say and watch them go from totally sobbing in the morning because their mom is leaving, to not wanting to leave at the end of the day. They won't remember you in a week, but they still grow close to you. It's so easy to be their friend, because you've only known them for three days, yet they'll hold your hand, hug you, and totally rely on you for comfort when they bump their heads. And hey, when you haven't done something for awhile, you need to learn again. I could handle little kids once, and they loved me. But then I stopped being with them for a long time, and now I need to learn again, and it's really not so hard...
One day left to go! And remember, God is Awesome! "Woo-hoo!"
10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein. 10:16 And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.
