Interesting devotions this morning. Reading in 2 Chronicles of the life of Jehoshaphat. At one point in his reign, there was a great army that rose up against his kingdom. He gathered all the people together to fast and pray. Then he stood in front of them all and cried out to God. The verse that caught my eye is this one:
20:12b For we are powerless against this great multitude that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon thee."
How often do we find ourselves in this place...the pressure is all around us...we feel powerless against everything that is coming against us? Where do we focus our eyes? On the problem or on Him? Here, the leader of the nation, stood before his people and declared "our eyes are on you, Lord". So should it be with us.
Reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Toby Mac. He and Kirk Franklin include a line "all eyes are on you, Lord". Now I know where that phrase is from. Cool.
