6:31 And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. Can we take this scripture literal to mean exactly what it says; a resounding yes is heard across the country and many of us live our lives in our dealing with others saved and unsaved alike in this manner, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right, so we spend our day talking with people, being very respectful, listening to every word as to not to give an appearance of being bored, we say yes maam and yes sir, we help with heavy items, we give our opinion or even offer The Word of God as a comfort, as an answer to a problem and in many cases we offer a Word of Prayer, we smile because we don't meet any strangers because we have heard that you maybe entertaining angels unaware, every gift and talent God has given us we use it to uplift others as we ought not ever doing this for it to be returned but we know that we reap what we sow, so we don't want any horrible things to come back on us, we have enough fighting the devil because we are being obedient to God and walking after the spirit and not after the flesh, not ever expecting it to e returned by the person we helped out, but when it comes back and it comes back in away that makes you say IS THAT WHAT I DID TO YOU? After my first encounter i went and repented to God because it had to be something i did wrong and just did not realize it, after many more returns and soon discovered that just because your nice to people does not always mean that they are going to be nice to you, just because your honest with people does not always mean that they will be honest wirth you, what? am i saying not to do what God has placed in you, no that is not what i'm saying keep doing what you know to do becasue it will come back, but remember everyone is not on the same level or understanding as you are, however it does prove to be a great test of your love for Christ. Be Blessed |

[star!] | It does indeed prove to be a good test! It appears to me that we are instructed to treat others as we would like them to treat us. There is no guarantee in this scripture that they will treat us as we have treated them. This scripture only deals with our treatment of others. Hopefully, they will treat us in like manner, but there is no guarantee. I also believe the Lord rewards us for treating others considerately, in some way. (Treating others as Jesus would...Gal 5:22-23) |

[star!] | This is so true, we are called to love our neighbor as our selves, and even our enemies. And often the love is not returned by the world, or even among our own Christian community. But we are still called to love, and forgive. He said if we don't forgive, then neither will He forgive us. |

That is so true mike and that is why i try to be obedient to His Word and at the smae time not be so heaven bound that i'm not any earthly good, or so worldly minded that i not any heavenly good, meaning that my witnness is destroyed because of my actions or reactions.
Gary, the awesome thing is, when you look at it this whole thing has nothing to do with us it is all about the right response, discernment is so important bbut every gift that God has given is equally important, i thank God that with every trial i am learning something new or being matured in what was already evident.
I can honestly say that i have treated some people the way they have treated me, it did not prove to be very prosperous, so kids don't try this at home :) |
