Starting at the beginning… when Satan tempted Eve, and she in turn tempted Adam, sin entered the world. (Even wonder why when Eve took the fruit, it was not sin, but only after Adam ate it)???
Sacrifices were a normal part of life, as a symbol of worship and for asking for forgiveness.
When the Sanctuary was built in a tent, sacrifices were done annually for the sins of the nation.
These sacrifices were performed every year by a priest, who if sin was found in him, God destroyed him.
Then Christ came, He was perfect and sinless. When He was sacrificed on the cross, He died for all sins. He ended the yearly sacrifice for the people, all people. There was no sacrifice needed again, because He forgave them all. He ended need to sacrifice for forgiveness. He even split the curtin entering the Holy of Holies.
There are no sinners, for the sins have been forgiven. There is
only saved and un-saved.
Sin still exists, but it is only in the flesh, for when we sin, the price is still death, but it is physical, in the flesh. Sin will cause us to lose faith because of guilt; the price of sin still has to be paid. If we speed, we still get the speeding ticket. If we lust, we still run the risk of satisfying lust through sex. If we have an affair , we still run the risk of getting a disease or lose our families.
When Christ told those He healed to go and sin no more, we leave out the rest of the sentence, which if read in full says:
Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. He is saying, don’t go back to your old ways, or else something worse will happen. He does not say sin no more or you will go to hell.
He does not want us to sin, because of the death it brings, and the suffering it causes.
There is only those whose names are written in the Book of Life, and those that are not.
When He rose from the dead, the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit draws us to Christ, and when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit pricks our hearts to quit doing those things that bring death. He empowers us to quit. But it is rarely an overnight event. The Holy Spirit will work on us, one thing at a time.
Paul writes: Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Then in Hebrews: Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
The falling back into or continuing of the sin will cause us to lose
faith, and turn our backs on Christ. We in essence remove
ourselves from the Book of Life. Rev. 3:5
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Only those whose names are written in the Book of Life will
enter heaven.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
