| Angel witnessed in Lake Stevens |

As I watched my little girl sleeping peacefully this morning in her crib, I thought of how God had intervened to protect her little body from serious injury last night while we were eating dinner. Many of you know Ella, our 21 month old. You don't need to spend much time around us to know that we as a family are terribly fond of her. She's an active girl and speaks a ton for her age. She also likes to stand up in her high chair during dinner hour. Usually we belt her in so she's unable to stand. But sometimes we forget. Like last night. Because it was so warm in the house we were eating outside in our carport right outside our kitchen. While we were busy eating our spaghetti and chatting with one another Ella stood up in her chair. "Sit down", I told her, "so you won't fall out and hit the cement." She did, and I didn't buckle her in like I should have. Again, she stood up, and this time for just a second before I seen her fall backwards over the side of her chair. I was powerless to stop it, she was outside my reach, and as I got my body in motion to go over to pick her up I realized that I never heard the expected thud of her body hitting the cement floor. Neither did Cheryl or Greta or Eli, also present around the table. I rushed over to pick her up. She was crying. As I comforted her I felt for the expected bumb on the back of the head. There was none. After a couple of minutes she stopped crying and went back to her normal happy self. After discussing all the possible ways in which she could have landed and not hit her head on the cement, we concluded that we had just been the recipients and witnesses of a miracle. It's the only explanation that made sense. We kept going back to the fact that none of us heard her body hit the cement. A hard one to explain rationally. But easier with Psalms 91: 11-12. 91:11 For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways. 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. |
