Hey there my friends,
I hope that you guys are doing well and I want to thank you for your comments on my last blog, that is what made me come back earlier then what I thought I would, who knew? I am so thankful for each of you and am so blessed that you are there for me as I try to be there for you. I hope that you guys know that you guys mean a lot to me and that your prayers sure are a blessing to me and they always will be forever.
I was thinking back to when a friend helped me for no reason, when a thought came across me, I am not to sure weither it is me or not, but I noticed that the world is forgetting , 'Do Unto Others As I Have Done Unto You'. Anways that got me thinking of a challenge for my blog from today on Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 till Sunday, August 16th, 2009. I know that it is a long gap between, but maybe you can do more then just one for the challenge.
My challenge is a pretty simple one, it is to do something nice for someone without begin asked or rewarded for it. I know that there are times that we have done some nice things before and got rewarded for it, but tell me when was the last time that you had done something nice for someone just for the sake of doing it. I know that this task will be tricky, but lately I haven't seen anyone doing anything nice for anyone just for the sake of begin nice. I know that it would be nice to see that some one does something nice for someone without a reward for it. I know that I try to, but I slip up and hey we all do. Let's see if you guys are up for the challenge. On Sunday, August 16th, 2009, I'd like each of you to report back to me what you guys did or post a blog about it to see if others will try the same thing. If your stuck on some idea's, here ya go. Plus I will be adding a video with lyrics, plus the reason why behind it.
Anyways here are some things you can do to 'Do Something Nice'.
- Doing something nice for someone almost always brings a very pleasant response. At the very least, it results in a smile. Doing something nice just might be contagious.
- Give up your seat on the bus or subway to a senior citizen, a child (or anyone who obviously needs it more than you do) before anyone else does.
- When it is late at night and you and your friends are taking in the warm summer air by cruising the neighborhood, keep the noise to a minimum. If you are driving around, don't keep the tunes pumping. If you are walking around, keep the chattering to a dull roar. You may be on summer break, but for most people, there isn't a summer break. They are still working.
- Read bedtime stories to your brothers and sisters

- Comfort someone when they feel down
- Share toys with a brother or sister
- Take care of the family pet
- Put away your own clothes
- Clean your bedroom
Bring in the mail- Visit someone who is sick
- Visit a friend
- Put an extra quarter in someone's parking meter
- Help someone pick up dropped papers
- Hold the door for someone you don't know
- Write a thank you note to someone who helped you or made a difference in your life
- Volunteer to read to students or at a nursing home
- Deliver a get well card to someone you don't know at the hospital.
- Do something nice for someone else
- Tell at least one person a day how nice they are
That is just a few of the idea's that you can do to help someone without begin asked and to assit you with the challenge. I find that this video from Lady Antebellum seems to show kindness that is begin payed forward. It reminds me of a movie that I loved to watch call 'Pay It Forward'. Anyways, here is that video and the lyrics. Plus like before the parts in bold are the parts that I agree with.
Lady Antebellum
'Run To You'
I run from hate
I run from prejudice
I run from pessimists
But I run too late
I run my life
Or is it running me
Run from my past
I run too fast
Or too slow it seems
When lies become the truth
That’s why I run to you
Chorus
This world keeps spinning faster
Into a new disaster so I run to you
I run to you baby
And when it all starts coming undone
Baby you’re the only one I run to
I run to you
We run on fumes
Your life and mine
Like the sands of time
Slippin’ right on through
And our love’s the only truth
That’s why I run to you
Repeat Chorus X 2
I wish all that participated in this the best of luck and remember that you can make a difference. Even John Walsh from America's Most Wanted says, 'Remember, you can make a difference", or, on occasion, "...and remember, you do make a difference."
Bless you all,
Megan
