13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 13:2 Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. It seems to me that a lot of Christians look at this verse and say to themselves "God is in control, therefore I don't have to do anything but pray". Nothing could be further from the truth.
While it is true that God sets up the structure / seat of authority, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY that righteous people (according to Scripture) are elected / appointed into that seat of authority. We seem to forget - at times "conveniently" that WE were given dominion over the Earth (Genesis 1:28). That has not changed. As a matter of fact, because of Jesus' work on the cross and the resurrection, we that believe in what He has done has re-entered a "Re-Genesis" state. In essence, the dominion we have lost through sin, we've retrieved through His work.
This is precisely the reason that we as the Body are mandated by God to choose those who rule over us according to Scripture. Remember Adam named everything on the Earth that God created (Genesis 2:19).
If Romans 13:1-2 is true, then Proverbs 29:2 must be true also:
"When the righteous are in power the people rejoice, when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn".
How much happiness do you see? Lastly ask yourself these two questions:
1) If God is in "control", as an American citizen why do I have the priviledge of voting?
2) If our rights and freedom come from God, as an American citizen, when you stand before Him and He asks, "What did you do with the freedoms that I gave you"? What would be your response?

| The dominion "regained" does not seem to be a complete dominion, or a complete "re-Genesis" since there continues to be more unbelief in the world than belief. I agree though, we should do more than simply pray. But how much more also seems to be a question for each individual believer. |

He is in control, when we vote, for president.. we are not voting for the president, but rather for our preselected representatives to make a choice... but these representatives don't have to choose the way we vote. It is called the electoral college. And through our history, they have voted against our votes. I cast my vote, but only because I am supposed to. I listen to the candidates, but can never trust a word coming out of their mouths. With the laws in place now, there is nothing preventing them from making promises that they know they will ever keep, and lie to us every day they speak. So even though we vote, He guides the electoral college to place who He has chosen, because what we sow as a nation, we Will reap. |

It seems to you love to harp on the electoral college. You love to espouse on how much the people of this country are NOT in control because of the College. Can you please enlighten us how does the Electoral College come into play in an U.S. Senate race? A House of Representitives race? A Gubenatorial race? A mayoral race? When you can tell us how the College directly affects each of the reaces mention above, maybe you argument would have some validity. At this point however, your argument little more than liberal Christian diatribe, trying to find any excuse possible not to hold yourself responsible for not getting involved directly by holding political leadership accountable or indirectly by educating others to get involved. Either way it's a cop out and files in the face of the rights freedoms and priviledges you are mandated to steward. |

The Electoral College only controls the Presidential race. As to the other elections, of course they have no say. As to liberal diatribe, far from it. I do vote, as often as possible, on City, State and National levels. But I also realize that the vote I cast is more of an act of futility. Here in Oklahoma, we had a lot of dead people voting, and addresses traced back to empty lots, from registered democrat voters that do not exist. My statements are only because I do not put my faith on a system designed by man, and easily manipulated or polluted by greed for power. As to mandated to be a steward of my rights and privileges... mandated by whom? Not Christ. When I became a Christian, I forfeited all of my rights, for I am dead to the world, and have another kingdom to be concerned of. I am only passing through. We as Christians don't need to be distracted by the concerns of thing of this world, our focus should be on His kingdom, and those of our spiritual family. And how to promote His love for the world. We can not serve two masters, you either serve the concerns of the world, or the concerns of His kingdom. |

Yes Debbie. His Kingdom will come to and overtake this present world system. However, the context of my argument is this:
If God gave us our rights and freedoms whose reponsibilty is it to steward those rights? The believer or the unbeliever? In order for thhose rights to be protected what type of person need to be in office - Kiingdom-minded or non Kingdom-minded? Who is going to ensure that those type of people get in and STAY IN office - the believer or the unbeliever?
Unlike Gary and those who are of like mind, it is OUR RESPONIBILITY to make sure our stewardship continues until until HIs Kingdom that is in Heaven manifests in the Earth.

Oh yes, at least somebody's come out and said it! And I particularly like what it says in Proverbs 29:2. Paraphrasing things: when good governments are in control - people prosper. When bad governments are in control - people suffer. Problem is, people only find out after the event when everything has been established. Need I mention the credit crunch? People got what they wanted, but they're suffering for it now. In short. When people hit the buffers in life, there's nothing in the piggy-bank to bail them out. Why? Because they never saved up in the good times now the bad times have arrived, and the government is looking towards the tax-payer to bail the banking system out. Question. Is that a government system fault - or a banking system fault? Seems to me they were working hand-in-hand throughout. Thing is, its all gone belly-up, and we (the tax-payer) are suffering because of it. So you choose which one we're living in right now - and who's suffering because of it? Headline-grabbing news is one thing, the agenda behind it is another. Its to bring everyone under control. As someone once said: give me control of the money - and I care not what rules they make. Control money, control people. Control people - you can control the world, and people will give up their freedom(s) because there's nothing else they can do because its got them by their short and curlies. |

Since you've posted twice and I have not had the time to answer you let me address you responses:
1) Since you finally admitted that the Electoral College is only resevered for presidential elections, and you stated that you vote in non-presidential elections as well, how do you influence those around you that they should vote for righteous candidates - besides using prayer?
2) You said "That in Oklahoma there is a lot of voter fraud". How is that suppposed to be resolved - through prayer alone or holding the county and state Registrar accountable?
3) You asked who mandates my stewardship of my rights and privilges? The answer is God does. Read Psalms 24:1 "The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof and all tha that dwell therin". If you understand that everything you have God gave you. Then you would have to admit that you are a owner of nothing and a steward of everything. Since God moved upon men to establish the rights we have, it is your responsibilty to steward those rights.
4) You said, "We as Christians don't need to be distracted by the concerns of things of this world, our focus should be on His kingdom, and those of our spiritual family. And how to promote His love for the world". If Christianity became illiegal in this country (at present course is not a farfetched conclusion) and all Christians were put in jail, who would you eveangelize? All real convicts would set free. What I'm proposing is not the serving of two masters, but rather the bring forth of the Kingdom through the framework of this system. When we as the Church have influence/control over the home, media, finance, education, government, the arts and entertainment, and yes religion too, how easy and quickly would the Kingdom of Heaven be set up on the Earth?

I want to say thank you for you input on this blog. Your statement here has shown that through the Internet how "small" our world really is! To address your statement that "America is in control" is not correct. God has used people to establish His will in the Earth. In the first 150 year of our country, the members of Congress had church service in the Capitol Rotunda (the dome in the center of the building where the Congress meets). Since the inception of our country we have opened up every session of Congress with prayer.
The problem is that (through the American secular media) our citizens have forgotten their history. Sadly, this is a fufillment of Hosea 4:6. This is why a reformation is needed and why people such as myself are trying to get the word out that we get back to basics and put God at the forefront of our government.
Regarding China, they are praticing what I call "Controlled Capitalism" They don't they mind their people being wealthy, so long as the socialists in government stay in control. As far as Europe is concerned, between the Church's apathy, the declining birthrate, and rising Islamic population it is only matter of time (unless God intervenes) that Europe will be an Islamic region.

So, until His return, His kingdom will not be setup physically. |

Let's see if I got this straight:
1) You dont influence ANYONE to vote in accordance to Scripture.
2) You continually have contacted the Registrar, but to no avail no one will listen. Maybe you need to contact other voters and you could address them as a group. Oh yeah, you dont influnence anyone to vote according to Scripture so I guess you wouldnt tell them that the system that you and those in your state pay taxes for is broken and doesnt really matter since Jesus is coming soon.
3) Psalms 24:1 is not a stretch. If God trusted human beings to write the Gospels (30-50 years after the ascencion of Christ) knowing the writers has the responsibilty to steward what the Holy Spirit dictated to them, yet the same God who would invent government, would not ask other human beings to create a government that would steward his principles so that all in this nation have the freedom to choose Him? Yet you're calling that a "stretch"?
4) If the jailers were instructed to shoot on sight anyone that would talk to them you would chhose martyrdom rather on waiting to see if God may have another plan? It's your answer I dont understand.
5) I do understand that the Kingdom is spiritual. Yet it lives within natural law. True, it is not bound by it, but it lives there nonetheless. Dont believe me. look in the mirror. As far as the Church having control in the 70's and 80's over the areas aformentioned, I dont know where you got you're information from, but you need to re-exmine it. Pastors have not been able to publically endorse a candidate since 1954. That was written into the U.S. Tax Code by then Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson. Had we had righteous govenment back then, we would be living out Proverbs 29:2. Christians would have been voting in righteous candidates under the influence of their pastors and things such as Obamacare never would have sprung up. |

1) The Scripture reference is Proverbs 29:2 If you knew your American History, such as how the Founding Fathers felt about God and government, We would have more righteous people having their vote line up with Scriptue.
2) How long ago have you tried? Are the same people in power as when you tried? Have you taken this to this to the state level? Have you contacted (former Congressman) J.C. Watts? I'm sure he would interested in something like this.
With regards to 3-5, it has become very evident that you choose martyrdom over fighting for the government that God has given us. So there really no need in ressponding to your repsonses.

James Madison, was not religious in any conventional sense. "Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." You see Gary, there is WAY too much evidence that our Founding Fathers were Christian which would mean they believed our rights come from God. Therefore it is our responsibilty to steward the rights God gave us.
One last thing, please don't go back to "Where is it in Scripture"? since you all the quotes you cited aren't found there either.

some of these were Diests, Deism is a belief in a divine power and a form of unorganized religion. The early deist looked at foundational science and believed the miracles of this world could not have been created without a divine presence. Further deists had no difficulties believing the concept of evolution, since they did not rely on creation stories from major religions. In fact almost every deist embraces evolution wholeheartedly since it is considered a reasonable explanation for the way in which people came to be on the earth. They have a sense that a concept of God may occasionally produce miracles or work in small ways in people’s lives but that these works are not adequately understandable by reason. Deists have been highly influential in American politics, since many of the founding fathers of the US can be considered deists. These include Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison. Usually, George Washington is included in the list of deists. Particular emphasis for the deist is the practice of freedom of religion, which allows for individuals to have their own concept of a divine power. Also the individual is allowed to worship as he or she sees fit. One last note, then I will not both you with this any more.... And some were atheists, some were agnostics, and others were Unitarian. What people fail to realize, is that history will always be written by those who happen to be in power at the time the books were written. This does not change history, only our perspective of it. At the time most of the older history books were written, Christians influenced the writing of history, and because of that, certain aspects of the people of old were left out, But because we now have a more non-Christian leadership in congress, we are seeing some of the writings that were squelched in the past. It does not make me happy to know these facts, because when I was a kid, I too looked up to the Founding Fathers, But since I have been trying to understand more about the truth about our past, I find that sometimes, our perspectives get squewed, not because we were wrong, but because the government wants to control the thought process of it's people. Regardless whether they politicians or not, they will and still are accountable to God, just like you and I are. They were used by God to shape the foundation of this country and it is our duty to keep this country as close to Scripture as humanly possible using the three things we have at our disposal: Our voice, Our vote, and Our prayer.
The bottom line is simply this: It is Christianity through our government that given us the opportunity to even have this debate. Is Christianity the "offical" religion of America - NO! However, it is through Christianity that we live as we choose, elect the politicians and criticize the goverment how we choose and most importantly, worship God if we choose. No other country on Earth, past or present has given its people the amount of freedom we as Americans have and enjoy. This is why our country is called "The Great Experiment". That is an absolute fact an no one can deny. |

Undeniably, Christianity gave us Western Civilization. I have (among other tomes) an encyclopedia of quotes from the Founding Fathers and other notable Americans...This country was founded on Christian principles; we don't have a State church so to speak, but at the time of our founding EVERY state had a state religion. It was Christianity undoubtably, in every one, but differing denominations of Christianity. And one of the requirements to be an officeholder USED to be, that you had to believe in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our current state constitution mentions God on the FIRST page. Hmmm... |

Our Preamble in our State Constitution says:
"We, the People of the State of California, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom, in order to secure and perpetuate its blessings, do establish this Constitution".
Yet we have legislators that try move that Proposition 8 was unconstitiutional yet voter approved TWICE (Mark Leno - State Senator and openly homosexual as an example) |

Denying unrevised history does not change written documents! Gerald, I believe that's what ours says verbatum. My daughter, Jess received a complimentary copy of our NC Constitution when she paged for our state representative, Pat McElraft. (We love Pat!) |
