I know my Daddy. By His Word and by the testimony of others, through the miracles He has performed in my life and those I have witnessed in others, I know my Daddy. He has brought me into His shelter and provided for me, and that is where I find my rest. There is an ocean of turmoil in the world, but in Daddy's care I am at peace. I believe in His promises: "surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.You will only see the punishment of the wicked . . . For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 'Because he loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation'" (3-16).
I had a student years ago who played basketball, and he was often concerned that he was going to turn his ankle or break his foot or anything concerning his feet. I read him this passage one day, and when he heard the part about the angels lifting him up so that he would not strike his foot against a stone, he claimed that with all his heart, and the Lord delivered him out of that fear. He put a paper clip in my Bible to mark that passage--the paper clip is still there.
I watched recently as my son-in-law Aaron drove us through a terrible storm. It was raining so hard that sight was nearly impossible--one of those times when it was as dangerous to pull over as it was to keep going. The deluge continued for about 20 minutes and Aaron kept driving and I kept praying and the babies in the back seat kept---sleeping. They never doubted for a minute that they were safe in their daddy's care, because they live with him and they know him--caring for them is what their daddy does. And caring for us is what our Daddy does. When we live with Him and abide in Him, we understand that we are safe, no matter what this evil world may throw at us. We can trust in Him for guidance and direction and peace and protection. "[We] who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
Hallelujah! Thank You, Lord! Dwelling in Your shelter, resting in Your shadow is the only place I want to be. Amen
91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,
91:2 will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."
