Flying a plane in bad visibility without instruments is very dangerous.  Remember President Kennedy's son?  He flew his plane without instruments and did what seemed right to him.  It cost him his life.

Living in this world of bad visibility without the Word of God is very dangerous.  Remember the person you knew who followed his/her own way and wound up in self-destruction, misery, or death?  He/she lived his life without obeying the Word and did what seemed right to himself.  It cost him/her oh so much.

Our senses are faulty.  Our opinions are skewed by sin.  Our feelings are often false.  To live by our senses, opinions, and feelings is the way to death.  We must have instruments.

We do have God's wisdom in His Word.  The Bible is full of God's wisdom.  The Holy Spirit also speaks to us directly in our heart.  He sometimes speaks through the wise advice of others, through our conscience, and/or through circumstances.  Listen to God.

If we follow our own desires, whims, thoughts, and plans we will create much difficulty and destruction.  If, however, we set asaide our own will and follow God, we will die to self and live to God.  We will discover our purpose as His plan unfolds before us.
