1:9 And so, from the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
I wonder how many of us see this in the historical context rather than applicable to ourselves today? If you read the Bible as a historical record then it is all but dead. Remember it is the living Word of God and the embodiment of that 'Word' is Jesus Christ. So deny that the Bible is applicable today is as bad as denying our Lord and Saviour and condemn Him also to the realms of history. Jesus is alive! and His living Word is in the Bible, which imparts life to us. The whole purpose of Bible is to point to Jesus, the prophets and saints lived and died for the Word and like Moses 'Died before seeing the promised land'(Deut 34 1:4), the fulfilment in Jesus of the written word. So remember 'All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness' (2 Tim 3:16). It is precious, priceless, life rendering and gives us an 'anchor point' to which we can return to again and again.
I'm actually working on a blog that kinda lists some of the things the Word of God is, and does. :-) If I ever finish it...now there's another thing. Procrastination certainly ain't of Him. lol
