| Life Is Short |

4:14Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Your life and my life is but a mist, a vapor, it appears for a time and then it is gone. On our tomb stones it is customary that we put the date of birth and the date of death. In between the date of birth and the date of death is a hyphen (a dash) that represents our life. What is dash going to say? No one is promised tomorrow, no one of really knows that day that we will breath our last breath. Back in the early 90s when Reebok was at and Nike were battling for supremacy of the sneaker world Reebok came out with a slogan to counter act Nike's "Just Do It" slogan with "Life is Short Play Hard." How should we then live if our lives are but a vapor?
I would like play off that Reebok slogan and give three suggestions on how to live: Since our life is a vapor and our time is short how should we live? 1. We are to live Hard (For the Glory of God)*Phil 1:21 We live for/as/in Christ*Whatever we do we do for the glory of God I Cor 10:31*We pour ourselves out as a drink offering I Tim 4:6 (we give it all we have)The wine was strong..not watered down or weak…represented joy of God in the completion of the burnt sacrifice. *We fight the good fight, we finish the course we keep the faith. 2. We are going to love Hard*We love God first and foremost Duet 6:4* We love each other Jn 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you* We love our enemies I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[b]*We love man kind ….Matthew 22:36 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[d] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[e] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Life is too short to be bitter, unforgiving, hateful, angry, hurt, …Love bears all, believes, all hopes all endures all love never fails3. We are going to pray Hard!James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!I John 514 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.: There are some things that we just can’t handle alone. They are too big for us. We need God’s help, God’s intervention, God’s peace. Phillipians 4:6 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus I Thes 5:17…..Pray without ceasing

[star!] | It is pretty cool. You've got several good lines in there. I like the suggestion to consider what the "dash" will say as a representation of my life. Though I guess I hope people will see me in the flesh and read my actions, rather than view the dash on my tombstone and wonder *smile. You give a good 4 point plan for how to do just that. Praise God! |
