7:36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
7:37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that [Jesus] sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
7:38 And stood at his feet behind [him] weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe [them] with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed [them] with the ointment.
7:39Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw [it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman [this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
7:40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that [he], to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
7:44And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head.
7:45Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
7:46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
7:47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
7:49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
This text is a parable of the woman with the alabaster box.the woman in this text is none other than Mary the sister of Lazarus. It goes on to state that one of the Pharisees ask Jesus to come and eat with him. Jesus went to the house of this Pharisee and sat at his table to eat. Behold meaning to look, or to take notice, an uninvited guest, a woman in the city known as a sinner. All at the table, knew of this woman, so I would imagine that she was possibly a prostitute. She brought with her an alabaster box filled with fragrant oils. She stood behind Jesus weeping, crying. She began to wash Jesus' feet with her tears, using them as water, she used her hare to dry his feet, and once they were dry she began to anoint His feet with the fragrant oils from the alabaster box. The Pharisee, Simon, saw this and said to himself, This man, if, which places a condition on his thoughts, He were a prophet he would know-what kind of woman that is touching him. Jesus knowing the thoughts of Simon used a parable of two debtors. One owing five hundred denarii and the other owed fifty who could not repay their debt. Both were forgiven their debt.
Jesus asked Simon a question, which of the debtors would love him most? Simon answered saying, I suppose that the one who was forgiven the most. Jesus spoke of the woman with the alabaster box and fragrant oils and all that she had done. None of these things were offered when he came and sat at the table of the Pharisees' house. Because this woman, Mary with the alabaster box wash dried and anointed the feet of Jesus with the fragrant oils, Jesus forgave here of her sins, This was indeed a walk of faith and her faith saved. She was told that her sins which were many were forgiven and to go in peace..
Relative to today we may not have an alabaster box with fragrant oils. But we all have a past, and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But don't have to stay there. God has given you the comforter which is one other than the Holy Spirit which indwells the hearts of every believer, and the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness.
Understand you will go through valleys in this life. Jeremiah 29:11 states: " For I knot the thoughts that I think of you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." God's word says that when you search for him with all of your heart that you-will find him.
Isaiah 1:18,19 says" Come let us reason together. Says the Lord, though your sins be as scarlet, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient? You shall eat of the good of the land.
Understand, before you can seek Him you must first believe that He exist and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. Remember Christ is not and never was lost. And He said in his word that we would never leave not forsake you. As we seek Him we must also take note of and keep in mind our motives for seeking Him. The fact that the Pharisee did not extend to Jesus any common courtesies indicates that his motives for inviting Jesus to his house to eat was out of curiosity. So Our motives must be clear, we must seek Him in all sincerity, seeking his heart and not just his hand, seeking wisdom for the purpose and plan he has for our lives, and how to apply his word to our daily lives.
Seeking the kingdom of God first, in other words, God's way of doing things, and His righteousness, and all other things will be added to us.
God has commanded blessings for us, and he has forgiven us of our past if we have asked for that forgiveness, agreeing that we were wrong in-our actions, realizing that we were born and shaped in iniquities. Iniquity is the tendency to sin. As we learn better we must do better. for he who knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin.
We all remember John 3:16, which says: " For God so loved the world gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in him would not perish, but have everlasting life. Whosoever includes you an me.
Jesus came with a purpose, that being death and the shedding of his blood, even-the death on the cross. The law states that without the shedding of blood ther is no remission of sin. He was the perfect example of how to live and serve here on earth, He shed his blood on the cross, and in obedience to the Father, for you and for me, He died and was buried, but He didn' stay there. He got up on the third day with all power in heaven and earth, and under the earth in his hand.
and there fore God has highly exalted Him,. and given Him a name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, of those on the earth, and those under the earth , and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
And so we humble ourselves before the Lord, giving Him our past, present, and our future, working out our own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. And who has blessed us with every Spiritual blessing, and-all that we need to accomplish his purpose for our-lives, as we witness with our lifestyles, for He who in in Christ is a new creature, Behold all things are passed away and behold all things have become new.
Now unto Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless, before the presence of His glory, with exceeding joy. To God our Savior, who-alone is wise. Be glory, and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen!
I pray that this post has help each of you-in your daily walk.
