We have. It's sad.  We forget the Church is the people...the body of Christ is ALL of those who have made Him savior and Lord, regardless of what denonmination they are affliiated with, or if they even go to one.  We won't see true revival without unity.   And you gotta have love to have unity, don't ya?  And humility. Dropping the pride of thinking you are more enlightened or spiritual than someone else. But that;s what a  lot of us do. I"m guilty sometimes.

I'm guilty a lot of times. Having the teaching gift, I tend to take it for granted that people actually want my opinion--have often had to relearn humility.

Outstanding blog, Beverly. I remember that song well. Reminds me of John 13:35 - "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

I remember that song, too.  Played it many times on the piano...E minor!

Great blog! This has triggered a distant memory in me about an article I read about 'saints of old' which focused on Christian love and unity. It was set in Rome in the time of Nero's cruel pursecution of God's people. It was the middle of winter and just below freezing and the Roman soldiers were ordered to strip the Christians and place them in the lake and to be left there to freeze to death. A Centurion was left to guard them to stop them from escaping. After a period of quiet (when those believers were praying) they started singing with joyeous praise to God. The Centurion was so moved by what he saw that he stipped off himself and joined them praising God. All perished but guess what a 'lost soul' got saved that day.

Great story, but triggers the question: what are we doing now that would make someone like that centurion react? Its sad that much of  the Christian community, at least in the USA, is not very attractive. Thanks so much for sharing!

Sure Beverly it is certainly the case in England too and I wonder if it's the same for the Western world as a whole? Are we really prepared to risk our lives for the sake of the Gospel even unto death? It's so easy to say 'we can' when we haven't been tested in this way and yet martyrs appear in every generation. Those who continually remind us what self sacrifice for the sake of God's love is...mirroring our Saviours great sacrifice.
