Other than the Bible, this book is the most annointed book I have ever known. A very dear Christian friend/mentor gave me this book about two years ago when my world began to fall apart. My edition is copyrighted 1925 -- it's an OLD book. It is a daily devotional book compiled by missionaries from the late 1800's and early 1900's. I have read it through for two years now, and it still speaks to me every day. Today's devotion really knocked my socks off.
4:16 Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its fragrance be wafted abroad. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits. Here is a quote of one of the paragraphs that really spoke to me:
"Sometimes God sends severe blasts of trial upon His children to develop their graces. Just as torches burn most brigihtly when swung to and fro; just as the juniper plant smells sweetest when flung into flames; so the richest qualities of a Christian often come out under the north wind of suffering and adversity. Bruised hearts often emit the fragrance that God loves to smell."
---Wow -- what else could I say -- I think the author said it all -- |
