| Sin no more... |
|
| |
First he touched their lives, then he said, "go, and sin no more."
And why would he say that? Surely he must have known that no one can simply not sin. Particularly without the Holy Spirit (and no one Jesus said that to had been given the Holy Spirit at that time). Did he really expect them (and us) to simply “sin no more”? Or perhaps was he communicating God’s intention, his heart for us?
I think this might be the key to these questions: 5:8 ... while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Or put another way, even while we were still sinning. That is, caught in the act! Yet rather than condemn us, he still chose to die in the most humiliating and excruciating fashion—FOR US!
With that peculiar timing, he ripped the guilt and shame right out of our clutched fingers. That’s right people, let it go!!! He knows what we were doing, knows what was in our hearts, and yet he still LOVES us!
That is certainly the most intense love I’ve ever known! That’s a love I just can’t understand. In fact I marvel at it! God IS love, and I literally worship that Love! It (he) is worthy of ALL glory!
History has shown over and over that law and consequences are a very poor motivator to sin no more. Love, on the other hand, is a completely different story.

LOVE ON THE OTHER HAND IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY..... It is because of that love that's so uncondition that we strive to sin no more, we try. That love is real intense and as I take communion it is felt, I sin, I confess, I take communion and He forgives.......THAT'S LOVE.

| I think that refers to "don't keep doing the same thing, cos if you do - something worse may happen." As for sinning no more? There's sin, and there's habitual sinning. In other words, they keep doing it regardless of the consequences, whereby the other does it occassionally. And for risk of sounding religious. The more you love, the less it happens. By the way, that doesn't mean being all over somebody like a rash and smothering them in kisses, because love is an action word - not a feeling. Because if I went along with my feelings sometimes, it'd never happen. So would that mean I'm sinning if I didn't step out and do it? Food for thought, :o) |

| Due to a glitch in the MyChurch software, the vast majority of the comments on this blog were deleted and apparently could not be restored. At the moment, I'm just glad to still have an account on MC, as my account was also deleted and had to be restored. |

Thank YOU Joey. You know, in retrospect, I'm kinda glad the comments are gone. There was a little bit of controversy (ho hum, nothing new on this site, lol). Apparently some thought I was saying that we all sin, so what. Well, I'm not the greatest writer, so I'm sorry if that was what this blog said to you. That wasn't it at all. The message is that we do all screw up, in little ways, or occasionally in big ways, and that God's acceptance doesn't end b/c of that. In fact, his faithful love only makes me follow him even more devotedly. That's what love is, it's faithful. I'm so thankful God loves me! |

All I have to say is if we had to wait till we sinned no more before we could witness hmmmmmmmm we would have no witness. |

Yes, even our beloved Paul had faults. Look how the Lord sent the prophets warning him NOT to go to Jerusalem, because he would go to Rome in chains, but because he was hard headed, he went, and guess what, he went to Rome in chains. 21:10 And as we tarried [there] many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 21:11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver [him] into the hands of the Gentiles. |
