If you really care about your loved ones and the rest of the world you better get motivated!!! You go to church and worship(are you listening to the words you are singng??).You go to church to get motivated for the next week.You go to the prayer line to get prayer for YOUR healing.You asked for LOVED ONES to be prayed for.You don't pray for them yourself.YOU never grow up and minister to your community!!! You asked God to have mercy on your finances and YOU NEVER GIVE much less TITHE. Oh tithing is OLD TESTAMENT!!! You ask for charity but never give or show any. When you DO ASK the Lord in prayer it is for yourself,not others.WOE is you.Are you an imitator of Jesus???ME,ME,ME!!! Self serving people wake up and Obey Jesus' teachings!!!.....Religion Stinks |

Jimmie, as usual,... Your writing pushes us,... and rightfully so, it's from Gods' Word. And isn't it an enigma,... so many believe they love The Lord, yet produce so little fruit. It really gets to me sometimes. Sometimes I even get mad. When I start feeling angry The Holy Spirit begins to stand back, which for me, gets my attention as quickly as His stirrings. Kind of an alarming sense. And I reply, with something like, well didn't Jesus get mad? One time, He actually ask me if I thought I was Jesus? My reply was, "of course not,... but I want to be like Him". Very noble reply, I thought!,... But I don't think it impressed The Holy Spirit,... He showed me what Jesus actually did in regard to those He was angry with, and we went over to the Cross. Erected there by those He loved for systematic killing of each other - and now Him too, they beat and shamed Him, drove nails through His limbs, and hung before many to die a terrible death. And He (whom we know could have smote them in a flash) says, "Father forgive them and gave up His Spirit." And The Spirit say,... "Preston!,... do you still feel like you want to be like Jesus?... then do this!". There is so much to say about where we went from that point to where I am now and I don't want to take up more of your blog to go through it all, so here is the point.
If we rush out and started doing these things you and I know are expected of us on our own to show Him we love Him, that would be admirable,... Don't you think? But who is doing it? If it's you doing it because you love Him,... It's still you! When we look at these passages that tell us what to do we must remember other passages that remind us that if it's not Christ, working through us, then they are deeds of the flesh. Now you can ask those, truly of The Lord, how, early in their walk they sought to do all these things in their own power and ended up right back where they started, broken, worn out, used up by the church and saying, like you,... "Religion Stinks"!
And so there is the enigma. We should be doing all those things,... but it can't be just us doing it. The real question is if we love Christ, why isn't He doing these things through us? What do we do with, "IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS"?
Look at this verse very closely,... If you "love Me",... you "will" keep my commandments. James, I think, would have wrote (in the flesh),... Keep my commandments, if you love me!,... And he would be right, in a way,... but James didn't write this verse and the actual writer was quoting Jesus, Himself, and the order of this sentence is the "key" to all I have said. IF WE LOVE HIM,... Something "will" happen. That is the focus. That is what angered Jesus with the Pharisees and the Saducees,... Love was what was missing. Their focus was on the commands and not on love for God.
We must point to what Christ has done out of His Love for each person to bring them to love Christ. Until they are filled with a loving awareness of His Love,... Everything the bible says about love PLUS the "personal experience" of His love,... He, "Christ",... will NOT manifest these things that we want to see.
