Forgiving and Forgetting

You have heard the saying "Forgive and forget" I'm sure just as I have heard it many times over.  I do believe that all should be forgiven no matter the circumstance because that is ultimately what Jesus has done for every living soul.  I also believe in forgetting, but to a certain point.  When we fall short and God puts us back on our feet I personally believe that through our mistakes we always remember our short comings so that we will not go back down that road that we strayed before.  Some have it backwards and believe that you are on a mission to bring them down, but if they would only put things into perspective they would see that if one wanted to succeed in their demise they would have already  seen fit to do so.  Not to say that I view myself as being so Holy that I don't ever have moments that I question why things are allowed to continue on, but then the Holy Spirit reminds me that it's all in the Father's hands!  Things that seem unfair are not meant for me to correct they are to be placed at the feet of Jesus and He will intercede in my behalf.  I don't hate those that have talked ill or assumed the worst.  I pray for them because that is what the word instructs us to do.
6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

I didn't know that it was wrong to confess your sins to other Christians.  Matter of fact doesn't the Bible tell us that we should confess our sins to our Brothers and Sisters in the Lord. 

5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God has brought me through bondage that without him I would have never been able to rise above and He brought others into my path that shared similiar faults such as my own.  God did this for a reason, so that I could let those others know that they are not alone and vice versa they did the same for me.  So, I will not be ashamed to have confessed my wrong doings with my Christian sisters!  I know God was the driving force behind our conversations.  So, this will be the last that I write in regards to a situation from long ago!  I pray for those that assume things about me when they don't even know who I am!  God loves me and God is using me.  I cannot be plucked out of God's hand, no matter how hard the devil tried.  With God's wonderful mercy I gave the devil a black eye and I stand with my head held high.

10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.

yes, we are to confess our sins, one to another, but we need to be sure who we're confessing them to. Just because they claim to be a child of God, doesn't mean they are. I usually go to my pastor, my elders or one specific person I can trust, not only for prayer, but I also know they won't gossip about it. Loose lips can cause a lot of damage.
Concerning forgiving, I can, but I don't think we forget. You just choose not to bring it up anymore. I still have a hard time knowing where to draw the line. If someone does you wrong you forgive and forgive and forgive again. But isn'yt there a point when we refuse to let it happen again.? I'm asking because I'm at that place right now

I agree that we need to wise in choosing whom we confess our sins to and you are very correct that not everyone that claims to be a child of God doesn't necessarily mean they are!! 

Yes, I believe that there does indeed come a time that we should refuse to let it happen again...It depends on the circumstance.  In example take for instance a hard subject such as adultery.  I firmly believe that there is forgiveness that can transpire, but if the adulteror continues to commit adultery after they have been forgiven, I'm not so sure that we should just stand by and allow this type of behavior to continue.  Now that doesn't mean we shouldn't forgive.  We should forgive no matter the circumstance, but that doesn't mean that we have to go along with what is being done.  Forgiveness releases us and this also applies to forgiving ourselves for things we do wrong.
