| Grace does not eliminate consequences |
|
| |
22:12 "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense, to repay every one for what he has done. Grace does not eliminate consequences. Jesus says He is coming back "to repay everyone for what he has done."
Our behavior is important. We shouldn't dismiss our sins and their consequences by thinking that grace gives us a free pass.
As Christians saved by grace, we are still accountable for our thoughts and behavior. We will have to answer to God. He will "repay everyone for what he has done."
God has given us His undeserved favor (grace), now what are we doing with it? Are we ignoring His grace? Are we abusing His grace? Are we using His grace as an excuse for our wrongful thoughts and deeds? Or are we so thankful for His grace that we are passionately following and obeying Jesus moment by moment. We will reap what we sow. |

| Amen Steve! Nowadays people seem to think that Grace covers everything - including consequences. |

[star!] | Amen Steve. This is one of those "hard truths". Consequences.... Many of us believe that Jesus not only saved us from our sins, but the consequences as well. I'm not too sure about that. |

And Mike:
Many people think he only saves us from the punishment for our sins but he doesn't save us from committing sin. |

|
| Ok, now I'm confused. Does Jesus save us from "committing sin?" |

|
| The Bible says He will save us from our sins, not from the punishment for our sins. In other words, Jesus sets us free from sin. Now that is deliverance! Free at last. |

[star!] | His grace is what makes us without excuse to sin, not excuse sin. Amen. |

| You still reap what you sow. A spiritual law as much as gravity is a natural law. |

| Brother Steve, Amen We are accountable for the sins, we commit. I've heard some pretty dumb stuff, When I sin, God sees Jesus and not me sinning. |

| I wonder how retarded people cope/deal with all of this? |

| Jimmy: You've got that mixed up. When you sin, God sees you. When you repent and put your sin under the blood, then God sees Jesus. Without repentance grace won't work. By the way, I think calling someone's opinion "dumb stuff" is a sin. |

| It all boils down to freedom of choice. If people know its wrong, then don't do it. But in some cases - people do it regardless, but don't realise the consequences of it. As Mike mentioned above. Its one of those "hard truths." |

| we dont get what we deserve and in many cases we do not suffer the consequences that we should and Grace in some cases does protect us from our own stupidity and actions |

Steve,
This is quite confusing. Do you sin? I mean you, Steve, do you sin? |

Johnny 3:
Every now and then I disobey God and think or do something I am not supposed to. Sin is so unplesant. I rush back to Jesus and ask Him to forgive me. If I have offended a person, I also ask him/her to forgive me.
Jesus said for us to "Be perfect," and that is a mighty tough goal. We may not get there in this life, but we can all sure do a lot better than we are doing now.
One of the worst things we can do is to parrot "Well, everybody sins," and use that as an excuse not to try to live a holy life. |
