Men who don't understand their wives will not understand how God justifies.  These men think because they buy their wives gifts and don't cheat on them that they warrant their love and obedience.  What they lack is the will to engage on a personal level and treat their wives as equal to the task.  A good wife cannot be bought and neither can God.  Works are how we do life but they are not life.  Integrity, commitment and honor bind a relationship and ensure its survival even when works fail.  That is why the apostle was convinced that nothing could separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.  His love for us and our faith in Him secure our relationship and that is beyond price.
