| I Am Calling It Quits. |
|
| |
I just can't do this anymore. Spend hours and hours at a computer while life passes me by. I have a motorcycle, kayak, bowling ball with shoes, golf set, sleeping bag, tent, softball gloves, bat, and balls. I can do more that what I'm doing. In fact, it was becoming addictive. Controlling me instead of me controlling it. Not doing any good as far as I could see. Not that it's wrong or anything. But even too much of a good thing is a bad thing. That's why I have decided to quit........facebook. |

[star!]Juanita just mentioned the KEY word on here....pacing!! Actually let me back up, and kick you in the rear end as well! We've lost a lot of great members of our fellowship lately, and I just don't think I could take the loss of our Mule. Pacing oneself is important. I pop in, check for comments/messages, check out the blogs/bloggers I'm following, and Explore for a little bit. I'm more efficient than ever. Not wandering as much as I used to, which is unfortunate but necessary. Real life is important, and if you have local friends/family to spend time with, it's good to limit yourself here. But don't forget, the folks here are real too. A good word can really help someone out. My time on this site has blessed me hugely in the last 2.5 yrs. Changed me, in fact (for the good, mostly). Took some time, but I learned to balance the time. Love ya Mule, glad you're quitting the games in favor of the fellowship, the iron sharpening iron. God bless you! ~mike |

| I don't do any of those things I mentioned but I once did. Before I got saved, I tried to find happiness any and everywhere. Didn't fing it 'til God found me. How can you love life and not know (love) the one who gave it? It's like trying to enjoy lemonade while hating lemons! |

| Mike, I was one of those video gamers who went for hours to play. I could make a dollar last 5-6 hours. Had all kinds of top scores and secrets to get where few could. I even left bad names for kicks. Remember the Friends episode? When I got saved, I went to those games and put top scores on them with names like Jesus luvs U, God luvs U, etc. Then one day I tried to put Jesus is Lord and it wouldn't let me do it. I tried several games and it was the same. I had learned if you can't call Jesus Lord, you are wicked. By reasoning, I concluded that those games were wicked. I quit. They were addictive, too. |

| The temptation wasn't the games themselves, but talking and playing with others until I literally fell asleep on the computer. It became a habit. Consumed. Not here, though. I read, study (Gary makes you do that), and when compelled, I write something. All good. The fellowship, that is. My writing gets carried away sometimes. I admit. But I have accomplices. So I feel we can't all be bad, so I'm in good company. We need to keep good company. I am proud of my friends I have here. I brag on ya'll. Every one. You lift me up and sometimes, I lift up others. If we continue lifting each other up, we might not be down...at least as much, amen? This past week I was down very deep. You all pulled me up! Hallelujah! There when I needed you. I haven't been here when I needed to be because I got caught up in those addictive games again. Well, that's easy to kick now. God kicks, I hurt and then stop. Easy.He is my life. I wouldn't be here, alive even, without God's supernatural intervention. My life is His. Forever. |

[star!] | The computer is very addictive. I go to FB to see what Noree is up to, Check out ED's forum and my family. I spent a lot of time here at MC during the early stages of my seperation and it gave me life, espeically my writing. Now that my divorce will be final soon, I'm leaving the computer and going out to meet new friends and fellowship. I'm going to join groups and go back to school. I will be here but not as much. I use to think people that only have friends on-line, talked to a screen everyday & night didn't have a life, but I know now it gives life. I just spent an hour on the phone with one of my MC family tonight.....PRICELESS |

[star!] | I know what you mean, I used to do some of those things too Anthony.. but I can't blame Facebook for not doing them anymore.. I just got old. :( So hanging out on the computer or the phone is easier (and I don't even break a nail) |

Mule, I'm really glad you aren't quitting us! You had us scared there for a minute!
I've been on MyChurch and FB for about a year I guess, but because of my schedule made the decision right from the beginning that I would not get into FB games/apps and would limit who my friends were there. That was one of the smartest things I ever did! My FB focus has been strictly to reconnect with family and friends whom I haven't seen for years; it has been a joy. At first it was time-consuming but now I can zip in and out quickly.
Now MyChurch is the real thing! I love the contacts here! I don't spend a lot of time here either but I do check on y'all every day. I have requested prayer for things and pray for my friends here on a regular basis even if all I have time to do is click on a star to show that I've read your request/blog!
So now I'd better stop since I have to get up to play for two Sunday a.m. services and one in the afternoon. You must know that you're a VIP to get a lengthy response from me here. Glad you're going to stick around! :-) |

[star!] | I figure there a lot of people trapped in darkness on the net and feel some are called in the name of Jesus to set them free. I have recently pushed out my blog onto facebook (and so has Preston with the help of Bren) with a view to reach the lost. The Mule is a vital component in this Body and to lose it would be a tremendous loss. He has a great ability to add humour to a situation that sometimes we take too seriously and reminds me often that our God has a great sense of humour. I love him like a member of my own family. It just requires discipline to manage your time to do other things but don't give it up....God has a plan! |

Oh my goodness, Barb. I am feeling the VIP thing here! Words from your are like a rare diamond! (With great value, too, I might add.) :o)
PM, when you used to be a junkie at something, can't really dabble in it. Way too easy to get carried away again, or shall I say, fall off the wagon? I was not even reading my bible or any blogs from here I guess for nearly 3 weeks. It hit home hard as my wife was angry all the time and I didn't even know it was because I neglected her, too. It's a very easy thing to do because I wouldn't trade you guys (or her) for anything. |

| Thanks Leigh, me too! I never liked fb more than myChurch, but the things there are more time consuming. Plus the fellowship here!!!!! I love you people so much, just an example, I only got one call on my birthday from my dad. That's it. My other family and church members didn't call or say a thing. Now, some will say they didn't know but if you look, the notices aren't highlighted on peoples birthdays anymore. Still, people cared about me here to send all kinds of love and well wishes!! How did they know? Easy, they cared to look and take time for me. Of all people, you all cared about me. I am humbled at the thought. :o) |

| Maureen, I here ya! Related to the 'old man in the mirror' did you? I don't do much now, but just sitting at my desk got to be about it. Pitiful. That's what is happening to a lot of our kids. Kids are starting to have health problems from a lack of activities I read that makes their generation the most unhealthy ever! Fat and lazy Americans, didn't used to be that way (I didn't used to be that way!). |

| Those words are so true Terry, I got more than I ever could give back from here! And knowing people connect in the 'real' world, too...well it just makes sense. Why, the friends we make here are true and the fellowship is unbeatable! I wished I could travel the country, in fact, the world and see my friends from here! I really would and too see me grinning with arms wide open preparing to bear hug anyone, well, might be frightening (I'm surprisingly quick for my size and all) but faith in God is increased when you survive such an encounter and gives people a new lease on life, sort of. |

| Juanita Mae, bdays come up on your feed. Each day, I believe all your friends bdays show up, much as a blog or prayer would, on the feed on your homepage. That is what I've noticed at least. They aren't as visible as they used to be, that's for sure. |

[star!] | Mule, I am glad your here, really. I have started on FB but am not impressed. I really only have one friend that I chat with there that I don't see often here, so I will keep it for that only. I refuse to play games. I have seen many play these games daily and they send invites, but I don't accept. I would much rather be here for the fellowship, opportunities to pray, be lifted and encouraged and wisdom imparted. Love you Brother always in Christ Jesus. |
|

| I'm glad your back...I don't like loosing my brothers and sisters here. Soo many have gone on. I am trying to reach out to the newbies from FB to encourage them and have found a few who were receptive to unsolicited invites. Some have sent messages asking if they know me...I guess FB makes people leary of the fellowship here.?? |
