| UNM -- Under New Management |
|
| |
1:13 He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, Praise God. If we are Christians, we are under new management. There has been a change of ownership in our lives. We are no longer our own. We are bought with a huge price -- purchased with the blood of Jesus. Like any purchase, there has been a transfer of property. We have been removed from the kingdom and authority of darkness and transfered into God's kingdom and authority. Perhaps we should have a "Sold" sign on our heads. We now belong to God. Unlike material possessions, however, we still have a will of our own. We still want to do things our own way -- the way we are confortable doing things. We try to run away from God's kingdom into our own little kingdom. But God calls us to return -- "Repent." Like the prodigal we need to come home to Dad. The kingdom of God is defined by Jesus as: "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." That is what is supposed to be going on in us, God's property. His will is supposed to be done in us. However, our will and flesh contend with God and try to establish our will over His. That's why there is a spiritual battle. We must be agressive to fight against our will and surrender to God's will. The violent take God's kingdom by force. It doesn't just happen. |
