all I can think of as I read that Scripture is discipleship.  Women were "not allowed to teach" in church according to Paul, so then if the older women were teaching the younger, it must have been outside the church.  so that would be discipling, which is sadly lacking. Jesus' disciples followed Him for 3 + years.  Why do we think that once we have brought someone into the fold, that then we're done spending time on them and we move on? We can't do that!  We wonder why so many people, after getting saved, return to their vomit like a dog, and then we try to say they never got saved. Well ,sometimes that's true, but many times they just never got discipled.  I betcha if more believers were discipled, we'd have a healthier flock. And I think it's good to always have a mentor, even if we aren't new believers, there's always someone who's further in their walk and experience with the Lord, we could learn from.  :-)

Thanks Steve--You are always a blessing to me.

Lara, you are indeed correct, and how convicting is that word. We absolutely need to spend more time and energy in discipling our babes in Christ and encouraging others to stay in the battle. None of us have arrived! You are an encouragement to me.

I can't even begin to say Amen enough on this subject!  What are we really winning them too if we have no standards? Jesus, calls us to fosake all else and follow Him we can not serve two masters. My teen age daughter has yet to grasp the full concept of this truth.  She says God loves me and accepts me the way I am.  Who can argue with that right?  But, as you said God doesn't want to leave you in that condition.  Sad thing is that many of us are happy in our condition.  We are comfortable with our sin. The Lord showed me this one time as I pondered what I was to say to her quip "God loves me the way I am."  He showed me the parable of the prodigal son.  When His son returned to Him though His Father ran to Him and embraced Him and kissed Him, the first thing He did was ask that His clothes be changed.  He was covered in the sin of the world and He wanted to give His son a robe/covering that was worthy of His son's status .  God wants to change us...we need  let Him change us.  As for the church/pastor/leaders...we ought not to be afraid to stand up for the truth and speak the truth in love, but it definitely makes it hard when they go down the street to another church because you stand for something and the other place over looks the sinful behavior.

Thanks Bro. Todd. Good to see you! I think I've figured out--well, one of my students coached me--how to put my blogs on facebook, too. Thanks for the idea.
Anyway, the Lord also gave me a revelation about the Prodigal son. He spent so much time immersed in the ways of the world that he became calloused to the point that he could wallow with "unclean pigs"--he ate and drank with the spiritual pigs until it became acceptable to eat and drink with the literal ones. You're so right, daddy got him to "take off" the world and be clothed in clean robes again. Thanks for the response.
