16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. No one doubts God's ability to save a person irregardless of conditions. Christ will be the judge and possess the authority to determine our eternal condition by His word. What amazes me is the struggle some have at the water. The scripture is abundantly clear and all Christian faiths practice it (albeit some different methods). I have to wonder why some hesistate. And then I remember the Red Sea and the Jordan River. I remember the faith it took the priest to put their feet in the water and the example Christ had to give Himself. We are people sometimes of little faith and wish to tell God how He should be about the business of redeeming. One would do well to remember who is the pot and who is the potter. It is time we returned to the joy and celebration associated with baptism. Baptism declares our faith and connects us to our Lord. Here is one thing Jesus did that we can do. He honors it. He rejoices over it. He desires it. We should also. Michael |
