Ever have one of those days when you were really giving yourself a pat on the back? "How fortunate these folks are to have me!" "If I didn't do the job it wouldn't get done--nobody else can do it like me." Uh-huh . . . started out with one of those today. "How good and self-sacrificing I am to come to school not feeling well so my classes can go on as normal and so we won't miss drama practice four days before the play . . .." Yep, and then I went to MyChurch and saw, "There is none righteous, not even one." I remembered, "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away" (Isaiah 64:6). Pretty quickly God put my perspective back where it belongs. I am, after all, bought with a price--and a hefty price, at that. Any good, any sacrifice, I do not do on my own.
