| Love never fails |
|
| |
I apologize for not blogging in such a long time. I have been logging and reading here and there, and praying for you. I miss you! I miss your love and your humor and your encouragement.
Mimi is settled in her new home. It is a Private Home for Alzheimer's patients. Cheryl, her daughter did her bedroom beautifully, with soft pinks and greens. Mimi even has a flat panel television for Papa to watch. She has had several episodes where she is not responsive. She has four doctors monitoring her, and physical therapy every day. Walking is extremely difficult now, but she has been in a wheelchair and has gone to the dining room a few times and even fed herself. It is a wonderful place, just for special people like Mimi. They have an office, a memory room, a room with lots of babies and a kitchen, for those who remember doing that sort of thing.
It has been heartbreaking for Mimi and Papa to be apart, but we all agree that this is the best thing that could have happened. The doctors made the decision. God is so good.
Papa is lonely, but he's up there 3-4 times a day, and when he's home, he's baking cobblers for the nursing staff. He's getting the rest he needs, so that he can love on his wife. He teases her, and he kisses her endlessly. He brushes her hair back from her face, and softly brushes his hand against her cheek. He tells her stupid jokes, and he can get a smile out of her.
Throughout all of the years that I've known them, they have been in love. When I wondered what marriage was all about I looked to them. They married when Mimi was sixteen and Papa was eighteen. Fifty-six years, they have been married.
Papa told me that he was on a date with another girl, and he saw Mimi standing on a corner talking with some other girls. He told his friend, "I'm going to marry that girl". And when he got home, he drove over to her house. The rest is history, of course. He married the prettiest girl in town. He was Baptist and she was Methodist. He became a Methodist Preacher and they had two children, one of which is my husband Greg.
Love never fails. Not when it is Christ centered. |

[star!] | I loved this, Joey. And you are so right. We may fail... but the love, if it was real love... NEVER FAILS. We might get divorced... but keep on loving the other. The church may split in half... but form two new ones. The Son of God may have been murdered... but salvation was made possible for all whom believe. Love never fails. I have missed you... I understand though... my folks need more of my attention now too. God works it all out, somehow. Love ya |

[star!] | Thanks for the update Joey. Yes, God is good. I feel for Papa, after all these years together, now apart. That has to be hard and we shall continue to pray for them. I heard a song on the radio last week and the last line was "life is hard, but God is good". Ya'll hang in there, Joey. Be blessed my friend. |

Arlene, Yes, it's very nice. I can't wait to see her on Sunday. I called Papa and Cheryl today, and Cheryl told me to be prepared. Papa said practically the same thing. Mimi has "gone inside of herself" and is not alert at all.
We will be making trips as often as possible. |

Liz, My daughter Sydney has the movie, The Notebook, which is very good.
Mimi and Papa's story is different... it is as if she went from chapter 4 to chapter 6 in matter of moments. This disease doesn't follow any rulebooks.
The last three weeks, I just kept thinking "I thought we had more time!" |
