| A *REAL* Church |

It's Sunday morning, and I am so excited that I get to go to a *real* church today.
We've probably all realized that is a touchy subject for our dear pastor, and I must confess that I spent several years being one of those people who thought you had to have a church building and have certain programs to be a "real" church.
We spent 9 years doing mission work/church planting in Indiana. We started churches that met in all different kinds of places -- from homes to community centers - to even a fire station! Don't get me wrong - I loved it -- but I was often concerned about how not being in a "real" church would affect my children. I felt they were missing out on all that a "real" church had to offer.
It took my own daughter to teach me a very important lesson. Hannah was only 4 years old at the time. Our church had a big circus-type tent set up at a community festival. We had our praise band playing, and we were giving out snow cones and cotton candy. It was an incredibly hot day, and by the end of the afternoon, Hannah had fallen asleep. I decided leave early and take her home. I had picked her up and was carrying her to the car when she woke up just enough to wave good bye and said "Bye church."
WOW - at that moment, I realized that she had a better understanding of what a real church was than I did. To her, church was never about a building or programs. She knew that church was a group of people coming together to worship. It didn't matter if it was a home or a red and white striped tent - she knew it was church.
So, as I said, I am going to a "real" church today. Psalms 122:1 says "I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord." This morning, the house of the Lord is Living Truth Church at Dixon Intermediate School -- a *real* church! |

| Preach it girl! Cielee reminds me of this often as well...as we're driving by any school around town, she always says, "Look Mommy, another church!" She has no idea that "real" churches exist! |

| It is amazing the testimonies that come to us through the eyes of a child. Our Pastor's daughter has recently had her first child and my wife and I can't wait till the day she is able to talk. I bet she will have some amazing things to say. Although my wife and I are not related to the baby, we are often referred to as Aunt and Uncle because of our close relationship with the baby's mom. That was a very nice story Connie. Glad you took the time to share it with all of us. God Bless. |

| When I moved to where I am now, the church I started going to was a lot smaller than my old one. I was afraid since the church was smaller and had less money, I wouldn't be getting as 'good' of a church experience. After a while I got adjusted to the church and I realized that even though the church was smaller, the people were closer, and I grew a lot in my faith and had a lot more close friends in the church that I could depend on. I don't know if that's related, but it seems like a similar thing. |

Outta the mouth of babes!!! After walking with the Lord for 20+ I finally have the revelation that I can stay planted in a place and seriously pray for ii!!! I mean where ever we go to church....we don't have to leave we can pray!!!! At my church there is a group (rather small right now) that meets on Sunday evenings to pray for among other things our church body....I have been through church splits, the bullying....you name it and after coming away from the church.....and missing her, the praise, the fellowship, and all I was so blessed to be led to my church....upon starting there I felt the Holy Spirit told me don't look for perfect....there is only One who is perfect....and you aren't it!!! Isn"t He funny??? Don't ya just have the best time being Loved by the Ancient of Days? |
