| God's Rabbit |

I walk two miles almost everyday. This morning it was a fantastic day to be in God's creation, 52 degrees, the sun was shining and the birds were singing. I always seem to walk at a better pace when it is cooler. I walk the same route everyday. The half-way point is a fence at the back of K-mart. This morning when I arrived at my appointed turn around point there was a special guest waiting for me. There huddled against the post was a little wild rabbit. He almost seemed cold. As I approached he didn't move a muscle. It wasn't until I reached out and touched the post that he darted off.
I began to think, why was that rabbit there at the percise time that I would reach that point in my walk? Why did he wait to run until I touched the post? Was it a coincidence? I had been seeing God all morning in my walk and I had been talking with Him. I don't know why but in my mind it was like God said through the rabbit's presence. "Yes I am here and I am listening." I think God reaches out to those who reach out to Him. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you James tells us in his letter. Don't forget what David teaches, "the steps of a good man are directed by the Lord." Could this rabbit be God's little note of encouragement for this preacher's day? |
