One of my favorite songs of worship, by Steven Curtis Chapman. Saw this again just yesterday, and it reminded me that nothing happens by blind chance, that God is sovereign in all circumstances, that therefore nothing that happens is beyond His notice, His care, or His plan. Therefore, I can rest knowing EVERYTHING that happens to me has purpose, meaning, and beauty if offered in His service.
Kinda funny....I was thinking about this man on the way home from work tonight. I was remembering the time we stood in a long line in...was it Atlanta...to shake his hand. We were at the very end of the line. He didn't have to sit through all those handshakes, but he did. You made some comment to him about this song and he responded...like we were really important to him. His life has been one of discipline and example. I prayed for him and his family today. Prayed that many in the church would be like him and reach out to those children who are not wanted. Steven Curtis Champan...one of my heros in this life...
Voice - yes, I remember. We were in a long line at a meet-n-greet for a half dozen different Christian recording artists. While SCS was talking to someone two people in line ahead of us, one of his 'roadies' started talking with us and ragging on the town in North Carolina where SCS lived. I piped up that he WASN'T from North Carolina, but from 'the banks of the Tennessee River'. Mr. Chapman overheard, stopped talking to the person ahead of us in line, and responded with a smile, "in a small Kentucky town' (the next line of that song). It was one of those, "Oh.....you know that song, too???" moments.
Someday I'd like to tell him just what that song means to me - purpose, plan, meaning, beauty - in the everyday rhythm of LIFE.
Steven Curtis Chapman is one of my favorite musical Artist..There is a message in every song he sings. I thank you for this post.......It reminds me of how much our Lord loves us, cares for us, and sees, hears, all that we do..People may think they are getting away with sin, but nothing ecapes His all-seeing eyes, and nothing escapes His ears. We need to, no we have to, be careful as to what we say, think and how we act, because if we don't, someday we will stand before Him and give an account of every word said and every deed done.......
Again thank you for sharing this with us all. May God bless and keep you and yours in all you do.......Yours always in Christ.......Trinity
When I hear this song it reminds me of so many things. I do love this song. One of the things I remember is Charles Williams, "The Greater Trumps" In it they find the "origional Tarot" a kind of a model of the universe, with all the card characters on the board, In the middle is the Fool. One of the ladies is a Christian and she is the only one who sees the board in movement. What she sees is the "Fool" dancing through the other parts of the board, representing the universe. The Fool, in His dance, keeps all the other pieces in order, without confusion! What a really special way to look at the universe! Also "The Danse" by Kemper Crabb, and re-recorded by Caedmon's Call.
