I still have a Christmas CD in the CD player in my car (ok so I've actually been listening to the iPod so that's misleading) and Cathy was nice enough to do the whole Christmas thing over here, however I've had this song stuck in my head for the last week or so... (Witness "I hear the bells ringing" showing up here). Now I know there are songs about Jesus's resurrection, but what is the difference with Easter that there aren't "Easter" songs?
Two of myu favorites are this one, I prefer Second Chapter of Acts or Kieth Green's versions, also the Victor by Kieth Green, or maybe A Morning Like This, Sandi Patty, Or Via Delarosa, or Watch the Lamb, or He's Alive. Man, there were a lot written in the 70's !!!
Second Chapter of Acts? Is that a song or a group? Hmmm it may require a googling. I didn't realize this song had been around since the 70s. I heard it for what I think was the first time this year on a podcast (the podcast started with the Keith Green version and ended with this one) on Easter day.
2nd Chapter of Acts is probably one of the two or three best Christian groups of all times. For a real treat find their album, How the West Was One with Phil Keaggy. A really great live album. As far as Christian live albums, that one and Randy Matthews, "Now Do You Understand" are the two best. There is a web site that has a lot of the old out of print stuff.. Go to the following link, http://www.one-way.org/jesusmusic/index.html
Go to the video vault and scroll down to 2nd chapter, there are some videos, you'll probably understand why I think like I do about them.
Yup, I saw them 3 times, Annie Herring was fabulous, and BTW, my parents just saw her 2 weeks ago up in Syracuse, NY. She was still great. See my blog from earlier today for Keaggy stuff.
Keith Green's music is still awesome. Second Chapter of Acts was a great group my wife and I listened to while we were dating...would have been great to see them in concert!!
I'll have to check them out. I'm still in the process of putting things back on the laptop so I haven't installed Real Audio yet (which appears to be the media type at the link Dennis provided).
By reading the comments, I feel like my musical IQ initially went down about 50 points as I realized I had no idea who people were. It's now is on the way back thanks to the information posted. :)
Well Norm, It has more to do with being as old as dirt! You know, when you remember when Moses sang that song of his,the first time around.Well there's just a lot of interesting trivia up there, just wish I could rememer where it is when I really need to find it............
Norm, If you do pod casting, look for Amy Grant - Looking Back, the interview. It's an interesting look into her background. Of most note is the church she and a lot of Nashville artists were going to back then was a non instrumental church. Interesting huh.
Podcast I do. However at the moment I'm so far behind (24 hours +) I'm going to have to wait to track this one down. My routine got thrown off. Typically I get through about 40 hours a week. The last couple of weeks I've been closer to 30-35 hours.
