So yeah, being the mod for a group the size of "Jesus Freaks" has it's good points and it's ..... difficult points, but one of the biggest "blessings and cursings" is the sheer volume of mail and add requests we get every day (and if you let it go for a couple days, woo.....it'll be hours of work tryin' to get back on track with it all!). And of course, every time I start checking the mail, here come the "hussy" friend requests.
You know the ones...the ones where these "girls" who only value looks and wallets want to be YOUR friend. Wow, imagine our luck! lol
A few years ago up until relatively recently, it was pretty easy to sift these add requests and messages out from the good stuff, but now, they've gotten smarter about it, and at the same time the "good stuff" has gotten more worldly. The new combination? Sad to say, but too many of the ones advertising their Christianity are also flaunting their carnality like a trophy.
Almost every day, there will be multiple messages and requests from people with no picture posted. At least the ones with the graphic pictures you know to click "deny" and move on. But the ones with no picture, you don't know if they're genuine people seeking the Lord or what, and you just know that if you were to say "no approvals without a picture posted", you'll end up turning away the genuine and accepting the clever devils (literally speaking).
To make a long story short, some of the "no-pics" will be genuine, and your heart will be warmed with the new additions to the group. And then it happens.
Hussy profile, wham-o in your face.
And as I'm sure most of my brothers can attest, the battle begins. The battle for the mind, for purity, for faithfulness to the Lord's call, for rejecting either the flesh or the spirit for the purpose of feeding the other. While I have never said it out loud (at least not that I can recall), my battle cry goes forth:
"Die, flesh...die!!!"
And I go on a "deny" clicking frenzy, almost certainly denying good, genuine people I would have ordinarily, when of sound and sane mind, accepted. The Lord speaks calmly to my soul, "Don't go crazy...there's plenty of self-control fruit available for this." So the whole point of this post:
I wanted there to be a place where my brothers and sisters could post comments about their own moments of "Die, flesh...die!!", to both bless the rest of us and help themselves in that moment of battling to deny the flesh and nourish the spirit instead. So, whenever you all are having a moment where your flesh is waking up and you want to beat it back into submission, come back here to this blog and leave a comment saying "Die, flesh....die!!", and a brief testimony about the battle you just waged. It'll be a blessing for all who read!
Thanks guys and gals, and be strong in the power of His might!
