“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
I don't know who said this and I know it is not a bible quote but I do know that it is a quote that should be remembered. Lately, I have experienced that in life there are people that we meet that truly change our lives and make us better people. There are also people that you thought were really close but then turnaround and disappoint you. Something does not go the way they expected and suddenly they are gone! When you attend church you get a chance to meet many people that we say "God bless you" to and people that share a common belief which in the church would be Jesus. He is what we have in common but we have so many other things in which we are so different. When Jesus was in his ministry years I am sure that he had many acquaintances but He had few that He called friends. The bible does not mention how many friends Jesus had but even within his disciples there were some that he probably shared with more. How many of the same people that we attend church with can we actually call a friend? How many people that you know are truly your friend? I can truly say that I have few friends. I know many people and share with many but unfortunately I have felt that not many are true friends. Which is why I was thinking, what is a friend?
To me a friend is someone who loves you and accepts you for who you are. This will take time but this person will laugh when you laugh, he will cry when you cry. He is an individual that never forgets you and is always there to listen or lend a helping hand when needed. Someone that you can talk to about anything and won't judge you but will be blatantly honest when you need corrections. A friend will just listen at times and most importantly a friend is just loyal! He will probably get upset with you but he will never just leave you. No matter what happens or what dumb thing you did or said. A true friend "sticks closer than a brother"! I know that Jesus is the FRIEND that will never leave us but we still need true friends until we get to heaven. The question is: How many people can you truly call your friends? Have you thought about that lately? Let me know what you think.
18:24 There are friends who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
A friend to me is the one who no matter what, accepts you for who you are, and if he or she can't do that, whether you did good or bad, then turn around and let God be the judge, and you keep going, with your head up, way up high, because at the end you will win the victory with GOD because with him there is no wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With him we laugh, we cry, we talk, we walk, we trust and we will stick together to me he is my only friend......
